We hope that you all had a great summer! Now, it s time to pickup those pencils and begin the school year! We are all very excited to have a wonderful year! School Time Information Important Volunteer Information School starts at 8:55 am School ends at 3:35 pm Due to safety and security measures ALL volunteers and visitors MUST be approved through the Ontario School District. If you are not approved, you will be turned away. Breakfast is served at 8:30 am Lunch for grades K-2 is served at 12:15-12:30pm Lunch for grades 3-5 is served at 12:30-12:45pm When dropping off your child for school, please DO NOT drop them off before 8:30 am. Every Wednesday is a late start. School starts ONE hour later than normal at 9:55 am. School ends at the same time as usual at 3:35 pm. Breakfast is served at 9:30 am. Bus pick up times on late start will be ONE hour later. Bus drop off times remain the same as usual. If you have not been approved yet and would like to volunteer, please pick up an application in the school office. If you are not sure if you are approved, please feel free to ask the office and they can help you. If you would like to volunteer, please call the office or let the teacher know in advance. Información Importante de Voluntario Debido a las medidas de seguridad TODOS los voluntarios y visitantes DEBEN ser aprobados por el Distrito Escolar de Ontario. Si usted no es un voluntario aprobado, usted será rechazado. Si aún no ha sido aprobado y le gustaría ser voluntario, por favor recoja una matricula en la oficina de la escuela. Si no está seguro si está aprobado, por favor no dude en preguntar a la oficina y ellos pueden ayudarle. Si usted desea ser voluntario, por favor llame a la oficina o deje le saver al maestro por adelantado. Cada miércoles la escuela comienza una hora más tarde de lo normal a las 9:55 am. La escuela termina al mismo tiempo de cada día a las 3:35 pm. El desayuno se sirve a las 9:30 am. Los tiempos de recogida del autobús serán una hora más tarde. Los tiempos de bajada del autobús siguen siendo los mismos de cada día. 3 Cairo PTO Every first Tuesday of the month our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meets in the school library. PTO provides services for school functions, conducts fundraising projects, and cooperates with school administration by providing educational opportunities for the Cairo school children. Some of the school events/ activities and programs such as the Fall Festival, Chili Feed, Accelerated Reader Program (AR), etc. are supported (financially and/or through volunteer time) by the PTO. Come join us on September 5th at 6 pm for our first meeting of the school year! Picture Day Thursday, September 14th Please clip your box tops and bring them to school! Have your child write their first and last name on the back of each box top and put it in their classroom container. At the end of each month, a drawing will be held and a lucky student from each class will be drawn to win a small prize! All of the box top funds go towards the funding of school activities. No School Monday, September 4, 2017 IMPORTANT CHANGES 1. Due to the high influx of transportation changes at the end of the school day, we will NO LONGER change any transportation for a child after 2:30 pm of each school day. If your child s transportation will be different than usual, please give the office a call BEFORE 2:30 pm. This insures that each student is transported home safely and correctly. 2. When picking up your student after school, parents please DO NOT go passed the double glass doors. Please stay in the foyer area and wait for your child. Fall conferences are September 27th- 28th. Scheduled conference times will be sent home soon. Please be sure to arrive at your scheduled time. If you need to make any changes please be sure to give the office a call at Please don t forget to sign and return The Student Agreement for Use of Electronic Communications located on page 19 and The Sign off Sheet located on page 27 of the student handbook. 4 PTO de Cairo Cada primer martes del mes, nuestra Organización de Padres y Maestros (PTO) se reúne en la biblioteca de la escuela. PTO proporciona servicios para las funciones de la escuela, conduce proyectos de recaudación de fondos y coopera con la administración de la escuela proporcionando oportunidades educativas para los niños de la escuela de Cairo. Algunos de los eventos /actividades y programas escolares como el Festival de Otoño, el Chili Feed, Programa Acelerado de Lectura (AR), etc. son apoyados (financieramente y/o por tiempo voluntario) por el PTO. Venga con nosotros el martes, 5 de septiembre a las 6 pm para nuestra primera junta del año escolar! Día de Fotos Jueves, 14 de septiembre No Hay Clases Lunes, 04 de septiembre 2017 CAMBIOS IMPORTANTES 1. Debido a la alta afluencia de cambios en el transporte al final del día escolar, NO CAMBIAREMOS el transporte para un niño después de las 2:30 pm de cada día escolar. Si el transporte de su hijo/hija es diferente, por favor llame a la oficina ANTES de las 2:30 pm. Esto asegura que cada estudiante sea transportado a casa de manera segura y correcta. 2. Debido a las razones de seguridad, cuando recojan a su hijo/hija después de la escuela, padres por favor NO pasen por las puertas doble. Por favor, quédate en el vestíbulo y espera a su hijo/hija. Por favor, trae sus box tops a la escuela! Pídale a su hijo/hija que escriba su nombre y apellido atrás de cada box top y póngalo en el contenedor en su salón de clase. Al final de cada mes, haremos una rifa y un estudiante de cada clase puede ganar un pequeño premio. Todos los fondos de los box tops se destinan a la financiación de los actividades para los estudiantes. CONFERENCIAS Las conferencias de otoño son del de septiembre. Por favor, asegúrese de llegar a su hora programada. Si necesitas hacer algún cambio, asegúrese de llamar a la oficina al Por favor firme y devuleva el Acuerdo del Estudiante para el uso del Electrónico de Comunicaciones que se encuentra en la página 48 y la Hoja de Firma que se encuentra en la página 57 del manual del estudiante.
