Bikes, like buses, are environmentally responsible modes of transportation. Utilizing both helps to improve our city s air quality, relieve traffic congestion and move people faster. To make it easier to Bike & Ride VIA s Primo vehicles have space for three bikes inside and VIA s other buses have space for two on the outside front of the bus. BIKES GO INSIDE ON PRIMO VEHICLES VIA s new Primo service is fast, but what you might notice first are the new 60-foot sleek Primo vehicles. These vehicles have many new features including bike racks inside that allow riders to bring their bikes on board. The Primo vehicles can accommodate three standard bikes. Because the bike rack is located in the rear of the vehicle, riders with bikes must board from the rear door. Once onboard, simply roll the front bike tire into one of the slots on the rack and allow the top roller to come over the front wheel. Once your bike is secure, please proceed to the front of the vehicle to pay your fare. 1. Stand at rear door with bike so operator will know you are boarding with a bike. 2. TIPS FOR BIKES ON PRIMO Primo vehicles have space inside for three standard bikes. Remove items from bike that may interfere with bus safety equipment or as directed by bus operator. When exiting, use the rear doors.

VIA buses are equipped with bike racks on the outside of the bus in the front. Each rack can accommodate two bikes at a time. Once the bus comes to a complete stop, step off the curb with your bike. If the bike rack is empty, lift the handle on the bike rack and lower it into position. Lift your bike into the space nearest the bus and pull the hook over the front wheel to secure your bike. 1. 5 OTHER INFORMATION FOR BIKE RIDERS Bike parking is available at many bus stops and all of the following locations: All VIA Transit Centers and Park & Ride locations VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro VIA Administration Offices, 800 W. Myrtle All Primo inline stations Bike rack space on all vehicles is available on a first-come, first-served basis. As a courtesy to other passengers, load and unload bikes as quickly as possible. Foldable bikes are allowed onboard all vehicles in the folded position. For safety reasons, bus drivers are not allowed to leave the bus to help load or unload bikes. Walk your bike on Primo station and transit center platforms. Be observant of buses and other vehicles when entering and exiting transit centers. Follow traffic rules and wear a helmet when biking. VIA is not responsible for personal injury or property damage arising from use of this equipment. Use at your own risk.
