RITA CATHOLIC CHURCH, DADE CITY, FLORIDA September 17, 2017 Missionary Disciples Called to Catechize Moments of triumph as well as moments of tragedy often dramatically highlight people s need for God, who reveals himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Less dramatic circumstances and quiet everyday moments also find us reaching out for God and asking him to help us make sense of our lives where do we come from and where we are going and what is the meaning of our lives? Catechists, who are the Church s witnesses to God s existence, message, and loving presence, enable people in all these moments to meet the living God and to form a relationship that can continue to grow through a lifetime. Their apostolic work springs from the Sacrament of Baptism and is strengthened by the Sacrament of Confirmation. After initial discernment, these baptized members of Christ s Body, the Church, who accept a special calling from the Holy Spirit, are affirmed and commissioned by the bishop and his delegates to serve the Church through the ministry of catechist. Their vocation requires cultivation and maturation of human gifts and talents, deepening spirituality, faith knowledge, and catechetical skills, and a passion for living and sharing the Good News with people of all ages and circumstances. Catechists know that they can count on the Holy Spirit to continue to be with them and to prompt them with just the right words to say as his faithful witnesses. Su trabajo apostólico surge del Sacramento del Bautismo y se fortalece con el Sacramento de la Confirmación. Después del discernimiento inicial, estos miembros bautizados del Cuerpo de Cristo, la iglesia, que acepta una llamada especial del Espíritu Santo, es apoyada y comisionada por el obispo y sus delegados para servir a la Iglesia a través del ministerio del catequista. Su vocación requiere cultivar y madurar los dones y talentos humanos, profundizar la espiritualidad, la creencia en el conocimiento y las habilidades catequísticas, y una pasión por vivir y compartir las Buenas Nuevas con personas de todas las edades y circunstancias. 3 Page 3 September 17, 2017 FROM THE Pope in Colombia PRIESTS DESK tells young people to dare to dream big I see many young people here, who have come from all over the country: from cachacos, costeños, paisas, vallunos, llaneros. For me it is always a pleasure to meet young people. Today I say to you: keep joy alive; it is a sign of a young heart, of a heart that has encountered the Lord. No one can snatch this away from you (cf. Jn 16:22). Do not let anyone rob you of joy; look after that joy which unites everyone in the knowledge of being loved by the Lord. The flame of the Lord Jesus love makes this joy burst forth, and is sufficient to set the whole world ablaze. How could you not be capable of changing this society and accomplishing all you decide to do! Do not be afraid of the future! Dare to dream big! I want to invite you to that great dream today. You, dear young people, have a particular ability of recognizing the suffering of others; volunteer workers around the world depend on thousands of you who give up your own time, your own comforts and plans, and allow yourselves to be moved by the needs of the most vulnerable, to whom you dedicate yourselves. But this can also emerge in contexts where death, pain and division have impacted you so deeply that they have left you half-dazed, as if numb. Allow the suffering of your Colombian brothers and sisters to strike you and mobilize you! Help us, your elders, not to grow accustomed to pain and neglect. Del Escritorio Mensaje del Del Sacerdote Papa Francisco a los jovenes de Colombia Jueves 07 de Septiembre de 2017 Veo aquí a muchos jóvenes que han venido de todos los rincones del país. En este día les digo: mantengan viva la alegría, es signo del corazón joven, del corazón que ha encontrado al Señor. Nadie se la podrá quitar (cf. Jn 16,22). No se la dejen robar, cuiden esa alegría que todo lo unifica en el saberse amados por el Señor. El fuego del amor de Jesucristo hace desbordante ese gozo, y es suficiente para incendiar el mundo entero. Cómo no van a poder cambiar esta sociedad y lo que se propongan! No le teman al futuro! Atrévanse a soñar a lo grande! A ese sueño grande los quiero invitar hoy. Ustedes, los jóvenes, tienen una sensibilidad especial para reconocer el sufrimiento de otros; los voluntariados del mundo entero se nutren de miles de ustedes que son capaces de resignar tiempos propios, comodidades, proyectos centrados en ustedes mismos, para dejarse conmover por las necesidades de los más frágiles y dedicarse a ellos. Pero también puede suceder que hayan nacido en ambientes donde la muerte, el dolor, la división han calado tan hondo que los hayan dejado medio mareados, como anestesiados: dejen que el sufrimiento de sus hermanos los abofetee y los movilice. Ayúdennos a nosotros, los mayores, a no acostumbrarnos al dolor y al abandono.

Masses may be booked: No more than six months in advance. Up to Five Masses may be booked at a time and only one can be a weekend Mass (listed above). One intention per weekend. Please contact or stop by the office if you would like to have any Masses offered. San Antonio Council 1768 will be holding a yard sale for the benefit of the various charities we support. The Yard Sale will be on Saturday, 9/23/17 from 8a-12pm.
