2 Saint Charles Parish San Diego / Imperial Beach Page Two ENCOURAGEMENT This Sunday s Gospel is our final selection from Mark for this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of Jesus teaching in Jerusalem immediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sustain them through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would encounter after his resurrection. The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel s time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful hope, knowing that Christ s love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal life with God. Copyright J. S. Emilio to bless the food that you will have at your Thanksgiving Dinner, please bring them in a basket at our Thanksgiving Mass. On Friday November 23rd, there will be Mass only at 7:30AM, NO Mass at 5:30PM. The parish office will be closed starting on Wednesday, November 21st at 12:00PM, and will reopen to usual business hours on Monday, November 26th. Bond with fellow parishioners over a cup of coffee, delicious baked goods and other delicious foods. The Holy Name Society will host the sale next Sunday, November 25th. Office Hours: CATECHETICAL MINISTRY CENTER (located at the 2 nd floor of the Parish Hall) Mondays-Fridays 9:00 am 5:00 pm COLLECTION FOR NATIONAL NEEDS: This weekend has been designated for the 2018 Collection for National Needs. Special envelopes are available for the collection which supports the Black and Indian Missions, the Catholic Home Missions, the Catholic Communication Campaign, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, and the Catholic University of America. Saint Charles Caritas is this weekend, Nov. 17 & % of your donations will be used to buy basic food, toiletries and basic necessities for the charities that we are helping: 6 in TJ and 3 in San Diego. For the next 2 months, Caritas is requesting all brand new blankets, socks all sizes, gloves/ mittens. Please see the nuns and volunteers at all exit doors. Now through November 18th we are collecting canned & non-perishable food items & monetary donations to help 90 families this Thanksgiving Season. Monetary donations can be placed in an envelope marked Thanksgiving Food Basket and turned in along with your Sunday offering or dropped off at the parish office. 5 Page Five Trigésimo Tercer Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 18 de Noviembre de 2018 ALIENTO El Evangelio de este domingo es nuestra selección final de Marcos para este año litúrgico. Pertenece a las últimas enseñanzas de Jesús en Jerusalén y se encuentra inmediatamente antes del relato de su arresto y pasión. En este, Jesús da a sus discípulos esperanza para sostenerlos en su pasión y muerte y en cualquier persecución o sufrimiento que enfrenten después de su resurrección. Las palabras del libro de Daniel también les brindan esperanza y aliento a los contemporáneos de Daniel. El aliento de estas lecturas también nos sirve a nosotros, ya que ninguno de nosotros puede evitar transitar tiempos difíciles en su vida.
