It's not some stupendous healing. It's not a dancing sun or some other heavenly sign. No, the mostamazing miracle happens millions of times a day in humble chapels and soaring cathedrals. It's the miracle of the Eucharist. It's the miracle of everyday sinners like us receiving Jesus, the eternal Son of God. It's the miracle of Christ making his home in us. It's tempting to ask why we should bother receiving the Eucharist when Christ already lives in our hearts. Perhaps the best way to look at it is that when we receive Jesus in the form of bread and wine, we are receiving more of what we already have. We are receiving more grace, more peace, more encouragement, more power to change, and most of all, more love. This is what happens when you receive the Eucharist. Jesus, who is in you and who is always at work to bring you closer to him, "meets" Jesus, the Living Bread who comes down from heaven to feed you, strengthen you, forgive you, and protect you (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1416). This is the miracle that we are privileged to experience over and over and over again. Christ is in you! And he wants to come to you even more fully in the Eucharist. He wants to take you, no matter where you are in your journey of faith, and make you more like him. So place your faith in him. Keep telling yourself, "Christ lives in me," and watch as he overcomes all in your life. Pastor St. Patrick Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. They owe their name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643.The Eudists currently serve in 15 countries most of which are in the developing world. Their primary purpose is evangelization, as well as formation to ministry in the training of diocesan priests and lay ministers. Their motto is To Serve Christ and His Church. JULY 2 JULY 16 August 6 August 20 "I was a stranger, and you welcomed me" La Posada de Guadalupe, the men's homeless shelter in Carlsbad, is recruiting volunteer receptionists for the office. Volunteers answer the phone providing information regarding housing at the shelter, and respond to other questions related to policies and regulations for those residing at La Posada. Simple data entry may be required at times. Training will be provided. Shifts: Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am-1:00 pm, or 1:00 pm-4:00 pm. There is always a staff person in the office to assist you with any questions or tasks that require extra help. Please call Eileen Ciganko at to help you get started in this worthwhile volunteer opportunity. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (Pre-K thru 8th grade) Registration for the Fall (School Year ) During office Hours in June: Tuesdays: 3-6pm; Wednesday 9am-12:30pm; Friday: 1:30-4:30pm. Summer Fun and Formation Liturgy of the Word for Children during the 9:00am mass; no registration needed Jr. High Retreat Day: Saturday, July 19, :00am 4:30pm for all 6-8thgrade students. Question of the Week: June 22, 2014 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Today's reading takes place after Jesus has miraculously fed five thousand people with only five loaves and two fish. Now he wants the crowds to understand that he has come to give them "the living bread." Earthly bread, even manna, can only keep us alive for a time. But it cannot give us eternal life. Only Jesus himself, the Bread of Life, can do that. As Catholics we believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. Each time we receive Communion we deepen our union with Jesus and receive more life and healing. Commit to joyfully celebrate our greatest prayer of thanks - the Mass - every weekend. Reservar su fecha con 9 meses de anticipación. Registrarse en el programa de confirmación o asistir al grupo de jóvenes por 6 meses. Favor de llamar al para hacer una cita para reservar su fecha. 5 St. Patrick Church June 22, 2014 Page Five St. Patrick Bereavement Ministry St. Patrick Bereavement Ministry meets on the 1 st and 3 rd Thursdays of each month from 1:00 to 2:30PM. Meetings are held at St. Patrick s Caregiver Office in the church building. These meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend, with no charge. The meetings are facilitated by Dcn Rick & Ann Pomphrey, and a trained facilitator from Hospice of the North Coast. For more information, please call Deacon Rick at , ext Next meetings: July 3 and 17. The Annual Catholic Appeal supports charitable needs throughout the Diocese of San Diego. Your contribution benefits Catholic Charities, provides emergency assistance to Catholic schools in need, and provides support for vocations and seminary formation. We have raised an additional $1,931 since March and are still raising funds for our final payment due in June. Our balance is $6,300 and any restricted gifts for our Organ Fund would be greatly appreciated. Look for special envelopes at the exits of the church. Soup Kitchen - All are welcome to join us for soup every Tuesday night in the parish hall from 4:30-6:00pm. This is a free event.
