The fearsome images that Christ describes are for those who do not want to wait, for those who do not look for God s kingdom, or for when we cannot be bothered to ask for God s will. It seems I am always preparing for something, a homily, a funeral, a wedding, an event. Preparation is essential but when I also take time to wait, watch and pray it is always more blessed.
