22 MAINTENANCE 8 Advce for savng energy 8. Sutable room temperature Set the room temperature to an approprate value to ensure physcal wellbeng, comfort and to comply wth the legal standards f requred. Each degree above ths value sgnfcantly ncreases the energy consumpton. The temperature must also be sutable for the specfc use beng made of the room: the temperature of empty rooms and bedrooms does not have to be the same as the man lvng room. 8. Elmnatng heat or cold sources In the event that there are any heat (n coolng mode) or cold (n heatng mode) sources that could be elmnated please do so (e.g. a wndow or a door whch are not properly closed). Ths wll ensure that the unt consumes less energy. 8.3 Operaton n heatng mode (heat pump) Your unt, when operatng n heatng mode, acts as a heat pump,.e. t takes heat from the outsde (va the outdoor unt) and releases t nsde (va the ndoor unt). Nevertheless, a conventonal heatng system produces heat purely by consumng energy. Therefore, heatng a room usng a heat pump s far more economcal than usng conventonal heatng (radators, heaters, bolers, etc.). 8.4 Ambent temperature when absent Durng heatng mode, an economc savng s made by keepng the room temperature at approx. 5ºC lower than the normal temperature. A reducton whch exceeds these 5º C does not provde any further energy savngs snce greater heatng power s requred for consecutve perods of operaton n normal operatng condtons. It s only worth reducng the temperature even further n the event of prolonged absences, e.g. durng holdays. Durng wnter when protecton aganst freezng must be guaranteed. 8.5 Unform heatng Often n a house only the one room s heated. In addton to the surfaces whch form the permeter of ths area,.e. the walls, doors, wndows, celng and floor, the adjacent rooms are cooler than the room temperature therefore: thermal energy s unntentonally lost. It s therefore dffcult to adequately heat the room and an unpleasant feelng of cold s felt (the same occurs when leavng open doors whch separate heated areas and unheated areas n a lmted way). Ths s false economy: the heatng s on and, nevertheless, the ambent temperature s not pleasant. Greater comfort and a more reasonable operatng mode are acheved by heatng all the rooms n a house unformly, takng nto account the use beng made of each room (the temperature of empty rooms and bedrooms does not have to be the same as the man room, as long as they are not sgnfcantly cooler than the man room). 8.6 Reducton n consumpton durng nght hours (Sleep functon) Your unt has a SLEEP functon whch allows the temperature to be modfed automatcally n relaton to the predetermned values (n heatng mode the temperature decreases slghtly; n coolng mode the temperature ncreases slghtly) durng sleep settng perod. Thus, apart from greater comfort beng provded there s also a reducton n the electrcty consumpton. For more detals regardng the SLEEP functon, please consult secton 7.7.). 8.7 Reducton n consumpton wth programmed operatng tme (Tmer functon) By usng the TIMER functon you can adjust the operaton start tme of your unt. Therefore, t s possble to programme the operaton of your unt to make t functon only when requred and thus acheve more economc operaton. 8.8 Approprate mantenance of the unt A unt n perfect condton operates effcently, takng maxmum advantage of the energy t consumes. Ensure that your unt s correctly servced (for more detals please consult secton 0). In partcular, make sure that the flters are kept clean and that the ar nlets and outlets are not obstructed ether on the ndoor or outdoor unt. Falure to do so wll lead to an ncrease n energy consumpton VAI 3-MWN-U_EN - 0/4 - Vallant
