PRIEST RETIREMENT FUND COLLECTION FONDO DE JUBILACIÓN PARA LOS SACERDOTES Next weekend all parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be asked to give generously to support the Retirement Fund for Archdiocesan Priests. At each Mass on June 6th & 7th, a second collection will be taken to benefit this important program. Currently, the fund provides for more than 100 priests who are retired. Over the next ten years, that number is expected to increase significantly. With minimal compensation, and in many cases, no pension, these men often retire with nothing to fall back upon. Your contributions can change that. The Priest Retirement Fund offers us a way to give back to our Catholic priests who have served us so faithfully. Your contribution will help archdiocesan priests live modestly and peacefully in retirement. Help us offer thanks for their years of devotion to God, and faithful service to our parish communities. Look for the brochures in the pews next weekend for more information. 4 What Is St. Anthony Bread? Que es el Pan de San Antonio? St. Anthony Bread is a term used for offerings made in thanksgiving to God for blessings received through the prayers of St. Anthony. Sometimes the alms are given for the education of priests. In some places parents also make a gift for the poor after placing a newborn child under the protection of St. Anthony. It is a practice in some churches to bless small loaves of bread on the feast of St. Anthony and give them to those who want them. Our Community will bless some little bread on Saturday June 13 and Sunday June 14 during all the Masses. We ll ask you for an act of charity, offering some monetary donations for our Seminarians in Guatemala. More information next week. El Pan de San Antonio es un término usado para las ofrendas hechas en acción de gracias a Dios por las bendiciones recibidas a través de las oraciones de St. Anthony. A veces se dan las limosnas para la educación de los sacerdotes. En algunos lugares los padres hacen también un regalo para los pobres después de colocar a un niño recién nacido al amparo de St. Anthony. Es una práctica en algunas iglesias bendiga pequeños panes en la fiesta de San Antonio y darles a aquellos que necesiten. Nuestra Comunidad va a bendecir unos panecitos el sábado 13 y domingo 14 de junio durante todas las Misas. FATHER S DAY MASS CARDS Each year we give recognition to all our fathers and the month of June is an appropriate time to greet them for all the help and sacrifice they have given us. Think about giving your Dad a bouquet of prayers and masses. Request a card at the parish office, write the name of your dad living or deceased, and include your offering in the attached envelope. All masses on Father s Day, June 21 will be dedicated to the intentions of the cards. TARJETAS PARA EL DIA DEL PADRE Piensa en donar a su papá un ramillete espiritual de misas y oraciones? Por ejemplo, la Iglesia de la Sagrada Familia en la calle Arminta, y la Iglesia San Judas Tadeo en North Hollywood, ubicadas dentro de los límites de la parroquia del Santo Rosario, están incluidas en esta categoría y no son Iglesias Católicas Romanas. Sus sacramentos no son considerados válidos por nuestra Iglesia Católica Romana. No se deje engañar! La única Iglesia que Cristo fundó es la Iglesia Católica. Ella ha existido desde hace 2000 años. Nuestra Iglesia es UNA, SANTA, CATOLICA Y APOSTOLICA. Ella tiene todos los elementos de santificación para poder ir al Cielo: la Palabra de Dios, los siete sacramentos, especialmente el sacramento de la Eucaristía. SCALABRINIANS PERPETUAL MASS CARDS When a person is sick, in need of a prayer, or when grief strikes hard in the friend s family with the death of a loved one, one of the best way to offer support and soothe the pain is to enroll that person in the Perpetual Mass League of the Scalabrinian Missionaries. To make an appointment call (818) John Baptist Scalabrini ( ) Bishop of Piacenza, lived the drama of the exodus of migrants who, during the last decades of the nineteenth century, traveled in great numbers from Europe to the countries in the New World. He clearly saw the need for a specific pastoral care of migrants through a suitable network of spiritual assistance. In this perspective, and giving proof of a keen spiritual insight and a concrete practical sense, he founded the Congregation of the Missionary Priests and the Missionary Sisters of Saint Charles. He strongly supported the need for legislative and institutional instruments for the human and juridical protection of the migrants against all forms of exploitation. Today, in different situations, the spiritual sons and daughters of Msgr. Scalabrini, who were later joined by the "Secular Institute of the Scalabrinian Missionary Women", continue to give witness to Christ's love for migrants and to offer them the Gospel.
