The more bits of information you have in your memory banks about their country, the more easily you can find connections and build relationships. So far, in Spanish I, you learned the 21 countries and their capitals. In Spanish II, you will review that information and added at least one other piece of geographical information. In Spanish III, you will review the countries and capitals one more time, and you will add information about one famous person from each country. The test will be taken in two parts and will be separated into two days. Test dates this year are,,. You will take the countries/ capitals test on the first day. This test is in the exact same format that you used the previous last year. The only difference will be that on the test the numbers are moved around into different boxes. On the study guide example Mexico is #1, on the test its box might be #19. You would then go down to the row #19 and write in the country and capital for Mexico, in Spanish of course. You will also notice that the bonus items are different from the previous year. On this test, spelling, accents and articles count. Each country has a total value of 30 points. 10 points are for locating the country correctly by number. 10 points are for spelling the country exactly as in this study guide. The last 10 points are for having the correct capital for the country, again spelled exactly as in this study guide. The bonus items are also 10 points each and must be located correctly by their letter and spelled exactly as in this guide. Because you have already taken this test 6 times in the past, all 21 countries are tested each of the 3 test periods. The total points possible are 640 for each test. The second day of testing will be the Geographic Features Test. To prepare for this test you will begin by studying the sentences given to you in this packet. The sentences tell you about each feature, why it is important, and in which countries it is located. You need to select one feature from each country. When you see an * beside an item, it means that they were important to more than one country. You may use them for only one country. 1

2 For the 1 st test, you need to select 7 geographic features. For the 2 nd test you will need 14 geographic features. For the final test, you will need 21 geographic features. Remember you may only use one person per country and *ed geographic features may only be used once per test. On the actual test, you will see all the Spanish speaking countries listed with blanks beside them. For each country, give one geographic feature that is located in that country in the 2 nd column and tell what type of geographic feature it is (mountain, river, etc.) in the 3 rd column. The geographic features and types are provided for you on the back on the test. Each box is worth 10 points for a total of 20 points for each geographic feature. The total points possible for the three tests will be 140, 280 and 420. Take a look in the box on the next page to see a sample test done for geographic features in English Speaking countries.
