5 fourth Sunday of easter Page 5 Living the EASTER Season Discernimiento En Latin, la palabra para discernimiento es discernere, que significa separar o distinguir. En este Domingo del Buen Pastor escucha la voz del Buen Pastor y trata de discernir cómo el Señor está llamando a cada uno de ustedes para servir. Discernir la voluntad de Dios implica orar y escuchar en silencio con el Señor. En la oración, tenemos que aprender a discernir la voz del Señor de las voces del mundo. Discernment In Latin, the word for discernment is discernere, which means to separate or to distinguish. On this Good Shepherd Sunday listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and try to discern how the Lord is calling each of you to serve. Discerning God s will entails praying and listening in silence with the Lord. In prayer, we must learn to discern the voice of the Lord from the voices of the world. These are a few spiritual discernment tips which allow Christ to reveal himself to us: Patience. Love is patient! Forgiveness. Forgive others and yourself. Wisdom. Pray for opportunities and the wisdom to choose them. Humility. Humble yourself; pray constantly for others. Peace. Pray for peace to rid any anxiety or nervousness. Charity. Give to anyone who is less fortunate; Christ reveals himself in the eyes of those in need. Trust. Trust in God s grace and trust in his majesty. Surrender. Surrender yourself as servants, willing to be his hands and feet. Read. Read Sacred Scripture. Read about Sacred Tradition. Pray. Good and gracious God, you speak to us and nourish us through the life of this church community at Our Lady of LaSalette Parish. In the name of Jesus, we ask you to continue to shower us with your Spirit so that men and women among us, young and old, will respond to your call to service in the church. We pray especially, in our day, for those who hear your invitation to be a priest, deacon, religious sister, or religious brother. May those who are opening their hearts and minds to your call be encouraged and strengthened through our enthusiasm in your service. Through Christ, our Lord and Good Shepherd. Amen. We, too, may meet with mixed reactions when we use our gifts in the service of God. Qué se quedó en sus memorias? Ve tu vida Pregunta para los niños: Jesús promete protegernos al igual que un pastor protege sus ovejas. Cómo sienten su amor en sus vidas? Pregunta para los jóvenes: Jesús dijo: Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, las conozco y ellas me siguen. Cómo te habla Jesús? Qué nuevo camino te está pidiendo que sigas? Pregunta para los adultos: Cuál es su experiencia de ser seguidores de Cristo, de ser cuidados y protegidos por él como pastor? Actividades para la semana Tomen estas actividades para reflexionar más: Jesús dijo: Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz y yo las conozco. Ellas me siguen. Adónde crees que Jesús dirige a tu familia? Fourth Sunday of Easter Week of April 17, 2016 Listen to the Word (John 10:27 30) What words or phrases strike you? What in this reading touches your heart? What lingers in your memory? Look into your life Question for children: Jesus promises to guard us like a shepherd does the sheep. How do you experience his loving care in your life? Question for youth: Jesus said My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. How does Jesus speak to you? What new path is he asking of you? Question for adults: What is your experience of being a follower of Christ, of being cared for and guarded with him as shepherd? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. Where do you think Jesus is leading your family? Spend time this week listening to the Good Shepherd s voice. Turn off the TV and radio, the computer and video games and spend time in silence each day. At the end of the week, gather your family together to talk about the experience. Search for books and magazines about missionaries. Read about them together as a family. Talk about how your family can follow Jesus call to discipleship. Make a plan to help with the work of the missionaries. Learn to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and to discern God s call in your lives. See page 5 to learn more about discernment. My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
