Roberto Why a Parish Festival? As most of you have heard by now, we are having our Parish Festival on October 24, 25, & 26, and many of you must have wondered why we are having this festival. The short answer is that it is in honor of our Patron Saint: St. Martin of Tours, Bishop, whose feast day is November 11 th. Due to weather concerns and the availability of the company that provides all of the big rides, we have settled on the end of October. The whole purpose of our Parish Festival is to celebrate our Patron Saint; to give thanks to God for his intercession this year, and to pray that he continues to intercede for us before our Lord. It is a time to get all of our different ethnic communities together and remind ourselves that we are ONE Church, and ONE Parish, united in our journey to God. We play, dance, sing, eat, and above all pray together at this feast, which is first and foremost a celebration of our unity and love for each other, a love that is protected by the intercession of St. Martin. Since this is a celebration of the ENTIRE parish, we need your help to make it a success! We need help with music, setup, cleanup, cooking, and many more things. While it is a festival, it is also a fundraiser, so we need help selling tickets for the rides (the parish receives more for pre-sale tickets) and the $5, raffle. We are going to have a great time together, so let s start spreading the word and buying our tickets! St. Martin of Tours, pray for us! May Our Lord Bless you! 4 5 de Octubre de Vigésimo Séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Del escritorio del Padre Roberto Por qué un Festival Parroquial? Como muchos de ustedes han escuchado, tendremos nuestro Festival Parroquial el 24, 25, y 26 de Octubre, y muchos se han de estar preguntando por qué un festival? La respuesta sencilla es porque es en honor de nuestro Santo Patrón: San Martin Caballero, Obispo, cuya fiesta es el 11 de Noviembre. Puesto que tenemos preocupaciones de lluvia y frio, y según la disponibilidad de la compañía que provee los enormes juegos mecánicos, hemos decidido en la ultima semana de Octubre para el festival. El propósito de un Festival Parroquial es para celebrar el Santo Patronal; para darle gracias a Dios por su intercesión este año, y para rezar que continúe intercediendo por nosotros ante Nuestro Señor. Es un tiempo para reunir a todas nuestras comunidades étnicas y recordar que somos UNA Iglesia, y UNA parroquia, unidos en nuestra jornada hacia Dios. Juntos jugamos, bailamos, cantamos, comemos, y sobre todos oramos en esta fiesta, que principalmente es una celebración de nuestra unidad y amor fraterno, un amor que esta bajo la protección de San Martin. Puesto que esta es una celebración de TODA la parroquia, necesitamos urgentemente su ayuda para que sea un gran éxito! Necesitamos ayuda con la música, preparaciones de los puestos, limpieza, con la comida, y muchas cosas mas. Aunque es un festival, también es para recaudar fondos, y pues necesitamos ayuda con la venta de boletos para los juegos mecánicos (la parroquia recibe mas de la pre-venta de boletos) y para la rifa de $5, dólares.
