Psalm Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe In the Gospel s reading of this Sunday, Jesus speaks of the end of the world and of his coming in glory. For this, he uses a scenario called the last judgment. There will be those who are blessed by the Father who will stand at the right of the King, but there will also be the cursed ones who will be placed away from him on the left. Questions may arise in our minds: Where will we be placed as the disciples of Jesus? Will we be among the sheep who inherit the Kingdom, as we obviously hope? Who can claim to be worthy of God s blessings? We are reassured of God s mercy, but the questions still confuse us. Jesus tells us about his mysterious presence in others: He says he is in the vulnerable person who is hungry and thirsty, who is a stranger, who is unclothed, ill or in prison, and who needs help. He says: whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25, 40). Los bendecidos del Padre los pondrá a su derecha, y los malditos a su izquierda. Nos preguntamos donde estarán los discípulos de Jesús? Quizás estaremos con las ovejas quienes serán los herederos del Reinado? Quienes recibirán las bendiciones de Dios? Quizás pensaremos que nosotros merecemos la generosidad de Dios. Jesús nos habla de su presencia misteriosa: Jesús se ve como la persona con hambre y con sed, como el forastero, como el desnudo, como la persona enferma, como el encarcelado, quienes todos estos necesitan ayuda y dice: cuando lo hicieron con el mas insignificante de mis hermanos, conmigo lo hicieron. (Mateo 25,40). Le Christ, Roi de l univers Dans la lecture évangélique de ce dimanche, Jésus parle de la fin du monde et de sa venue dans la gloire. Pour ce faire, il utilise une scénario où il est question de ce qu on appelle le jugement dernier. Il y aura des bénis du Père qui seront à la droite du Roi, mais il y aura aussi des maudits qui seront loin de lui. Une question peut surgir dans notre esprit: où serons-nous, nous qui sommes les 0disciples de Jésus? Serons-nous parmi les brebis qui hériteront du Royaume, ce que nous espérons évidement? Qui peut se vanter d être digne de la bénédiction de Dieu? Sa miséricorde cependant nous rassure, mais la question peut encore brouiller notre esprit. Jésus nous parle de sa présence mystérieuse: Jésus se reconnaît dans la personne fragile qui a faim et soif, qui est étranger, qui est nu, malade ou en prison, qui a besoin d aide, et il dit: Chaque fois que vous l avez fait à l un de ces plus petits qui sont mes frères, c est à moi que vous l avez fait (Matthieu 25, 40). The righteous would say to Jesus: Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, naked and clothe you or in prison and visit you? Jesus will answer, Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

3 MAKING ALL THINGS NEW Last week our Pastor, Msgr. Crimmins, was called to several meetings to address the possibility of St. Gregory s parish joining with Holy Name. Msgr. met with the pastors who make up the cluster of the Upper Westside and also with the Deanery that consists of the parishes on the Westside of Manhattan from Corpus Christie on 120th Street to St. Francis on 14th Street; both groups will decide and offer their recommendations to Cardinal Dolan who will make the final decision sometime in March of There is a meeting scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 25 with the cluster, and we will keep you informed of the outcome. In the meantime, please continue to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. On Sunday, Nov. 23rd. at 12:30 PM, we invite all our parishioners and their friends to join us on the sidewalk in front of the church to pray the Rosary for the future of our beloved parish. FAITH SHARING GROUP Our Faith Sharing group meets in the Church on the third Monday every month from 7:30 to 9 pm, and every Monday during Advent and Lent. The Sunday scriptures are read with commentary by several Catholic publications, followed by a discussion of the meaning in our lives today. The next meeting is Monday, November. 24. All are welcome to participate. YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has declared the Year of Consecrated Life beginning on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2014, and closing on February 2, 2016, on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The main purpose of the year will be to evangelize the vocation to consecrated life and the response of religious to awaken the world to the prophetic witness to the poor and those in need. CCHD The collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD grants improve education, support economic development, and help communities provide housing in low -income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and aid those living on the margins of society. Please give to the CCH Collection. THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY SCHEDULE On Thursday, November 27, Thanksgiving Day, Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, and on Friday, November 28th, Mass will be at 12 Noon (both Masses are in English only). After both these Masses the church will close. The Rectory will be closed all day on Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Friday the 28th. On Saturday the 29th the Rectory and the Church will resume normal schedule. SVDPS Our chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society announces its annual Christmas bazaar that will take place on Sunday, December 7th. Please donate gift-quality items for this event. Please do NOT bring summer clothes, baskets, books, stuffed animals or DVDs. HACIENDO TODAS LAS COSAS NUEVAS La semana pasada nuestro Pastor el Monseñor Crimmins fue llamado a dos reuniones para discutir la posibilidad de la unión de nuestra parroquia de San Gregorio con la iglesia de Holy Name. Monseñor se reunió con los pastores que forman el grupo (cluster) de las iglesias de los Altos del Oeste de Manhattan y también con un grupo llamado Deanery (Decanto) que consiste de todas las parroquias en el Oeste de Manhattan comenzando con Corpus Christie en la calle 120 hasta San Francisco (St. Francis) en la calle 14. Ambos grupos harán su decisión y presentaran su recomendación al Cardenal Dolan quien hará su decisión final en Marzo de El próximo Martes Nov. 25 tendremos una reunión con el equipo (cluster) les mantendremos informados del resultado de esta reunión. GRUPO PARA COMPARTIR LA FE Se reúnen en la iglesia cada tercer Lunes de cada mes, de 7:30 a 9:00p.m. y todos los Lunes en Adviento y Cuaresma. Se lee las lecturas del Domingo, seguido por comentarios y discusiones y el significado de estas lecturas en nuestras vidas. La próxima reunión será el Lunes 17 de Noviembre. Todos están invitados. ANO DE VIDA CONSAGRADA Nuestro Santo Padre, El Papa Francisco, ha declarado Año de Vida Consagrada comenzando el primer Domingo de Adviento, Noviembre 30, 2014 y terminara el 2 de Febrero, 2016, en la Fiesta de la Presentación de Jesús en el Templo. El propósito del año será la evangelización a la vocación a la vida consagrada y para despertar al mundo para ver la pobreza y los necesitados. CCHD La Colecta de la próxima semana para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano (CCHD) necesita su ayuda. CCHD fue fundada para erradicar el ciclo de pobreza en los Estados Unidos otorgando fondos a aquellas organizaciones que ayuda a las personas a ayudarse a si mismas.
