5 What is a CPD? An international customs declaration identifying the vehicle to be imported An international guarantee of the payment of any customs duties and import taxes chargeable if the vehicle is not re-exported 5

6 CPD background CPD initiated by the AIT and FIA in the early1900s The document was incorporated into 1954 & 1956 UN Customs Conventions. In 1990 the CPD became part of the Istanbul Convention This document has been operating worldwide over 100 years now. 6
