1 INTERNACIONAL FILM FEST ABOUT THE BRAIN Brain Film Fest th Solé Tura Award call for entries First: Brain Film Festival TERMS AND CONDITIONS The Brain Film Fest (BFF) is an international film festival dedicated to highlighting and promoting the creation and dissemination of short films about all aspects of the brain, from its amazing abilities to its diseases. BFF is organized by the Uszheimer Foundation, Pasqual Maragall Foundation and Minimal Films. The Brain Film Fest is calling for entries for the Solé Tura Award, which includes three prizes as judged by a jury and one as voted by the public. Second: Free submission Submitting a work to the Solé Tura Award is free of charge. Third: BFF competition program The BFF 2019 competition program has no separate categories, so all films submitted will be subject to the same evaluation and selection criteria. The BFF program comprises an official section of short films of a maximum duration of twenty minutes (20 ) that compete for the First, Second and Third Prizes of the Solé Tura Award. The selected shorts may also opt for the Audience Award, which is decided by audience votes at the screenings, as detailed in the ninth point of these Terms and Conditions. This year, a new prize has also been created for mini-shorts of a maximum duration of two (2 ) minutes that can be viewed and voted for online as established in the ninth point. The short films are to be uploaded at the website and may be voted for on the same platform. Online voting will close on the day before the Festival begins. Fourth: BFF activities In addition to the Solé Tura Award film competition call, the BFF will also organize other social, cultural and/or scientific events focusing on the brain. 2 INTERNACIONAL FILM FEST ABOUT THE BRAIN Fifth: Participation requirements - Individuals or groups of people can participate who have produced audiovisual works on the situations of people or groups, social intervention experiences or scientific dissemination. In general, on all fields related to the brain within contemporary society. - The subject of the short films should be related to any aspects of the brain, from its amazing abilities to its diseases, or their social impact. - The works must display creativity, an innovative approach, scientific rigor and/or a strong storyline. - The films cannot have been made before Their duration must not exceed 20 minutes. Sixth: Electronic submission The competing works can be submitted by at films@brainfilmfest.com and are subject to the following submission conditions: - Electronic submission of the work through Vimeo, with password access download option, or through WeTransfer/Dropbox, preferably in Full HD (1920x1080) quality. - Participants must fill out both a cast and crew file and online form at to submit a film, indicating their desire to participate in the competition and acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and the jury s decision The submission form includes the director s name, film s title, a brief 300- character synopsis, duration, shooting format and address, and it also must be personally signed by the individual participating in the competition. By accepting the Festival s Terms and Conditions, the person submitting the audiovisual work waives any legal, criminal or commercial responsibility of BFF with respect to copyright, which is assumed to pertain to the individual submitting the work to the competition. - Selected movies exceeding six (6 ) minutes in length will require that a maximum two-minute trailer be sent. You may also submit your work through or by following their corresponding instructions. 3 INTERNACIONAL FILM FEST ABOUT THE BRAIN Seventh: Competition call dates The call for entries begins on May 28 and the deadline to receive the submissions is pm on Friday, November 25, Eighth: Solé Tura Award jury A selection committee will choose the finalists at the end of the call for entries. The jury will comprise people from the field of science and film production professionals, as chosen by the Brain Film Fest organizers. The jury s decision will be final. Participants in the competition will renounce any challenge to or actions against these Terms and Conditions. The jury s decision and public vote for the Audience Award will be announced at the Award Ceremony during the Brain Film Fest 2019, to take place in Barcelona between March 14 and 17, The prizes must be accepted in person or by a duly nominated representative of the award-winner. Each prize will not be presented to the winner if he or she is unjustifiably absent from the Ceremony and has not sent any representatives. In this event, the amount will be added to the following year s prize money. Ninth: Solé Tura Award prizes The Solé Tura Award has three prizes: First Prize: amount of 1,500 Second Prize: amount of 1,000 Third Prize: amount of 500 Two Audience Awards will also be presented: Audience Award: The Audience Award will be presented to one of the officially selected works whose duration is between 2 and 20 minutes, as voted by the public in attendance at the screenings. Mini-Short Audience Award: A Mini-Short Audience Award has been launched for this edition for shorts whose duration is less than 2 minutes, to be voted for online and with 500 in prize money. The subject of the mini-shorts should be related to any brain condition. Neither of these Awards can be declared null and void. The cash amount prizes will be subject to current withholding tax (IRPF) regulations. Acceptance of the Award implies the transfer of copyright for a period of one year and includes the dissemination of the winning entry. El Brain Film Fest (BFF) es un festival internacional de cine dedicado a mostrar e impulsar la creación y difusión de cortometrajes sobre cualquier aspecto del cerebro, desde sus increíbles capacidades a sus patologías. BFF está organizado por la Fundación Uszheimer, la Fundación Pasqual Maragall y Minimal Films. Brain Film Festival convoca el Premio Solé Tura con tres galardones que otorga un jurado y un Premio votado por el público. Segundo. Gratuito. La inscripción al Premio Solé Tura es gratuita. Tercero. Programación a concurso del BFF. La programación a concurso de BFF 2019 no distingue secciones, por lo que todas las películas que concursan se someten a los mismos criterios de selección y valoración. La programación de BFF la forma una sección oficial de cortometrajes de máximo veinte minutos (20 ), que optan al primer, segundo y tercer Premio Solé Tura. Así mismo, los cortos seleccionados podrán optar también al Premio del Público, que se decide por votación de los asistentes a las proyecciones, según se especifica en el punto 9 de las bases. En esta edición se abre un nuevo premio destinado a microcortos de una duración máxima de dos minutos, que podrán ser visualizados y votados online, según se establece en el punto 9 de las bases. Los cortometrajes se subirán a través de la página web y de podrán votar en la misma plataforma. El cierre de la votación online será el día anterior al inicio de Brain Film Festival. Además del concurso cinematográfico que convoca el Premio Solé Tura, el BFF organizará otros eventos sociales, culturales y/o científicos que tengan como tema central el cerebro. Quinto. Requisitos para participar. - Pueden participar personas físicas, individualmente o en equipo, que hayan realizado trabajos audiovisuales sobre la situación de personas o colectivos, experiencias de intervención social o difusión científica. En general, sobre todos los ámbitos relacionados con el cerebro en la sociedad contemporánea. - La temática de los cortometrajes deber abordar cualquier aspecto del cerebro, desde sus increíbles capacidades a sus patologías, o las consecuencias sociales de las mismas. - Las obras han de mostrar calidad creativa, un aspecto innovador, rigor científico y/o solidez argumental. - Las obras no pueden ser anteriores a La duración no excederá los 20. Sexto. Inscripción telemática. Los trabajos que concurren podrán presentarse a través de la dirección de correo electrónico films@brainfilmfest.com, adecuándose a las siguientes normas de presentación: - Presentación telemática del trabajo mediante Vimeo con opción a descarga y contraseña de acceso, con un WeTransfer/Dropbox, preferiblemente en calidad Full HD (1920x1080). - Para la inscripción es obligatorio rellenar una ficha técnica y artística, y el formulario de la web donde se declara la voluntad de participar en el concurso y se aceptan las bases y la decisión del jurado. La ficha de inscripción indicará el director, el título, un breve resumen de 300 caracteres, la duración, el formato de grabación, el correo electrónico y la debe firmar la persona que se presenta al concurso. Aceptando las bases del Premio Solé Tura, la persona que inscribe la pieza audiovisual exime al BFF de cualquier responsabilidad legal, penal o mercantil respecto a los derechos de autor, que se presuponen de la persona que presenta la obra a concurso. - Todos los trabajos que superen los 6 minutos de duración y resulten seleccionados deberán enviar un tráiler de máximo dos minutos. En el caso de presentación por plataformas digitales, la aceptación de estas bases se dará por confirmada en el momento de la inscripción. Séptimo. Fechas de la convocatoria. La convocatoria al Premio Solé Tura se abre el 28 de mayo y la fecha límite para la recepción de trabajos será el viernes 25 de noviembre de 2018, a las 23:59. Octavo. Jurado del Premio Solé Tura. Al cierre de la presentación de trabajos, un comité de selección escogerá las obras finalistas. El jurado lo formará tanto personas del ámbito científico como profesionales de la producción cinematográfica, convocados por la organización de Brain Film Fest. La decisión del jurado será inapelable. Por el hecho de concursar, los participantes renuncian a cualquier impugnación o acción contra estas bases. La resolución del jurado y la votación del Premio del Público y del Premio del Público de Microcortos se comunicarán públicamente en el acto de entrega de premios durante el Brain Film Fest 2019, que tendrá lugar entre en 14 y el 17 de marzo de 2019 en Barcelona. La entrega de premios se realizará presencialmente o por delegación del propio premiado. En caso de ausencia no justificada a la gala y de no haber delegado la representación, no se entregará el premio al ganador, pasando el importa a la dotación de premios del año siguiente. Noveno. Dotación del Premio Solé Tura. El Premio Solé Tura distingue tres premios: Primer Premio, dotado con la cantidad de 1.500,00 Segundo Premio, dotado con la cantidad de 1.000,00 Tercer Premio, dotado con la cantidad de 500,00 En la edición de 2019 se otorgan dos premios del público: Premio del Público: Entre todos los trabajos seleccionados para la sección oficial, de entre 2 y 20 minutos, se otorga el Premio del Público, votado presencialmente en la sala de proyección. Para los cortos inferiores a los 2 minutos, inauguramos el Premio del Público Microcortos, que se votará online y está dotado con la cantidad de 500,00. El premio del Público Microcortos está orientado a resaltar la producción de estudiantes de escuelas de cine y particulares que deseen dar a conocer sus cortometrajes, no anteriores a 2017, y con una duración máxima de dos minutos. El tema de los microcortos debe relacionarse con: las condiciones del cerebro. Ninguno de los premios anteriores puede ser declarado desierto. Las cantidades de los premios con dotación económica están sujetos a las retenciones del IRPF vigente. La aceptación del premio implica la cesión de los derechos de difusión de la obra durante el plazo de un año y comporta la divulgación del trabajo ganador. Pasado este tiempo, la persona que inscribe la obra la podrá distribuir por su cuenta, siempre haciendo constar que la obra ha estado galardonada con el IX Premio Solé Tura. En el caso de que la persona que inscribe la obra no indique explícitamente lo contrario, la organización del BFF Premio Solé Tura se reserva el derecho de usar el trabajo presentado, por un año a partir de la clausura del BFF, a efectos de difusión en los canales que se consideren oportunos, con finalidad no comercial. Los cortos entran a formar parte de la base de datos de BFF, aunque no se realizará actividad alguna de difusión sin el permiso de la persona que inscribe la obra.
