USO: Delante de sustantivos que se refieren a algo o a alguien específico: The History teacher is making her lesson in class A3 Delante de sustantivos que son únicos o delante de nombres geográficos: ficos:the sky is blue and the sun is shining Delante de un superlativo: It s the highest building in the world. Delante de nombres de mares, ríos, r desiertos, cordilleras, archipiélagos, teatros, cines, museos : The Mediterranean / The Thames / The Sahara / The Pyrenees / The Canaries / The Royal Opera House / The Odeon / The National Gallery Delante de instrumentos musicales: : I play the flute, the piano and the guitar

4 THE = el, la, los, las.omisión: Cuando nos referimos a cosas o personas en general: Teachers should be patient / I don t t like snakes. Con colores: I don t t like red or white. Con next / last (+week/month/year/summer/monday Monday ): I m not working next week / Did you have a holiday last summer? Con nombres propios de personas, continentes, paises, montañas: as: Asia / Spain / Mount Everest / President Kennedy

5 A/AN = un, una. A delante de consonante: a boy, a city, a question, a house ojo! a university,, a euro AN delante de vocal o h muda: an apple, an umbrella, an hour NOTA: el plural del artículo indeterminado se traduce en inglés por las formas SOME / ANY que significa UNOS / UNAS.

USO: Para designar cosas o personas: The sun is a star / Joe is a very nice person Delante de los nombres de profesiones: I m a dentist / Picasso was a famous painter En oraciones exclamativas con what: What an interesting book / What an awful day! Delante de expresiones numéricas: There are a hundred pence in a pound / I ve I got a thousand euros. Con frases adverbiales de frecuencia (once a week/twice a month ): How often do you have your English lessons? Once a week.

7 A / AN = un, una. OMISIÓN: Delante de sustantivos en plural: There are flowers all over the house. Delante de sustantivos incontables y sustantivos abstractos: I like coffee with sugar and milk / Generosity is one of the most positive qualities. Delante de breakfast, lunch,, tea, dinner, supper excepto cuando estas palabras van precedidas de un adjetivo: We usually have breakfast at 8 / We had a light dinner yesterday.

INTERROGATIVOS: what / where / when / who / which / why / how / how many / how much / how often NUMERALES ORDINALES: first / second / third / fourth / fifth / sixth / seventeenth / twenty first / ninety eighth

9 CUANTIFICADORES: NUMERALES CARDINALES: one / two / three / four / five / twelve / thirty seven / sixty nine / one hundred / one thousand CUANTIFICADORES DE GRAN CANTIDAD: a lot of / many / much / more / most / several / enough We re having a lot of problems / Did he drink much wine? / Give me more / Several days later he phoned me.
