It is a shame that we have only one day set aside each year to give thanks to God as a nation. We should have some time set aside each day, to give our praise to Him who has blessed us so richly. We sometimes forget that the United States was once governed by devout men who acknowledged the one true God and their debt to Him in everything. Let us not forget the sacrifices the these great men made and our own continue to make to keep American values especially our freedom to practice our faith. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather with family and friends and reflect on the blessings of the last year. Many of us experience renewed hope and faith during the Thanksgiving holiday because we turn our eyes onto what is most important. What if we spent time each day in giving thanks and prayer? How could God grow out faith and trust if we lived a life of thanks through all seasons and not just Thanksgiving time? When your heart is filled with gratitude, there is little room to worry or complain. As we gather on Thanksgiving Day let us be thankful for what we have, for the family we love, the friends we cherish, our faith, and for the blessings that will come. Happy Thanksgiving! May your blessings be multiplied this year and throughout all your life. Es una pena que solo tengamos un día reservado cada año para dar gracias a Dios como nación. Deberíamos tener un tiempo especial cada día, para dar nuestra alabanza a Aquel que nos ha bendecido con tanta riqueza. A veces olvidamos que los Estados Unidos alguna vez estuvieron gobernados por hombres devotos que reconocieron al único Dios verdadero y su deuda con Él en todo. No olvidemos los sacrificios que estos grandes hombres hicieron y continuemos nosotros esforzándonos para para mantener los valores estadounidenses, especialmente nuestra libertad de practicar nuestra fe. Acción de Gracias es un momento maravilloso para reunirse con familiares y amigos y reflexionar sobre las bendiciones del año pasado. Muchos de nosotros experimentamos una renovada esperanza y fe durante las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias porque volvemos la mirada hacia lo más importante. Qué pasaría si cada día le dedicáramos unos minutos a dar gracias y a orar? Imagina cuánto podríamos crecer en la fe y la confianza en Dios si viviéramos una vida de gracias a través de todas las estaciones y no solo en el tiempo de Acción de Gracias. Cuando nuestro corazón está lleno de gratitud, hay poco espacio para preocuparse o quejarse. Al reunirnos en el Día de Acción de Gracias, agradezcamos lo que tenemos, la familia que amamos, los amigos que apreciamos, nuestra fe y las bendiciones que vendrán. Feliz día de acción de gracias! 3 Page 3 November 19, 2017 FROM THE PRIESTS DESK Dear friends, Our parable today is surely one of the most well known. Before embarking on a trip a Lord entrusts his property to three employees, the first two immediately get to work and duplicate the results. What is surprising is the third, he felt fear of his Lord and buried the talent entrusted to him. But beware this servant did nothing wrong. But what explains his behavior? This Employee does not identify with the project of his Lord, he does not love him, he is afraid of him. The Christian life is a call to produce. To take the risk to love and be happy, without fear to complicate life. The dynamics of the kingdom of God is not meant to be stagnant, but to bear fruit. We have to say it indirectly, a Christian does not only have to think; what will become of me, but also, what will become of my neighbor without fear of complications. Otherwise we will live our faith in fear of God and therefore only act looking for his protection. God is not a tyrant who terrorizes the human race, on the contrary, he is a Father who entrusts in each of us the greatest gift; the gift of life. Therefore as a disciple of Jesus who would feel called to everything, except to bury his life. The parable is an invitation to lose that fear of God and enjoy His goodness and mercy. Antes de emprender su viaje un señor confía sus bienes a tres empleados, los dos primeros se ponen de inmediato a trabajar y duplican los resultados. Lo sorprendente es el tercero, que sintió miedo de su señor y enterró los talentos que se le encomendaron. Pero cuidado este siervo no hizo nada malo. Pero como se explica este comportamiento? Este empleado no se identifica con el proyecto de su señor, no lo ama, tiene miedo de el. Definitivamente la vida cristiana es un llamado a producir. A arriesgarnos a amar y ser feliz, sin miedo a complicarnos la vida. La dinámica del propio Reino de Dios no esta hecha para ser estancada, sino para dar fruto. Hay que decirlo sin rodeo, el cristiano no solo ha de pensar, que será de mi, sino también, que será de mi prójimo sin miedo a complicaciones. De otra manera viviremos una fe con miedo a Dios y por lo tanto solo actuamos buscando su protección. Dios no es un tirano que atemoriza al ser humano, al contrario es un Padre que le confía a cada uno el gran regalo de la vida. Por lo tanto un discípulo de Jesus se siente llamado a todo, menos a enterrar su vida. La parábola es una invitación a perder el miedo a Dios y disfrutar de su bondad y misericordia. 4 Page 4 November 19, 2017 EL AÑO LITÚRGICO El Año Litúrgico es un ciclo basado en la vida, muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor. Al repetirse cada año, nos ayuda a estar en unión con Él y a crecer en nuestra fe. Se inicia el último domingo del mes de noviembre, fecha en que la Comunidad cristiana inicia la celebración del Tiempo de Adviento. Concluye con la Fiesta de Cristo Rey el sábado anterior al primer domingo de Adviento. Cómo se estructura? Se organiza en cinco tiempos litúrgicos: 1.ADVIENTO: es el primer período del año litúrgico cristiano, que consiste en un tiempo de preparación espiritual para la celebración del nacimiento de Cristo. Su duración suele ser de 22 a 28 días, dado que lo integran necesariamente los cuatro domingos más próximos a la festividad de la Natividad. 2. NAVIDAD: es una de las festividades más importantes del cristianismo, Esta solemnidad, que conmemora el nacimiento de Jesucristo en Belén. 3. CUARESMA: es el período del tiempo litúrgico destinado para la preparación de la fiesta de Pascua. Dura 40 días. 4. PASCUA: El primer domingo de Pascua es la fiesta central del cristianismo, en la que se conmemora, la resurrección de Jesús al tercer día después de haber sido crucificado. A la Semana Santa le sigue un período de cincuenta días llamado Tiempo pascual, que termina con el Domingo de Pentecostés. 5. TIEMPO ORDINARIO: Suele ser definido como "el tiempo en que Cristo se hace presente y guía a su Iglesia por los caminos del mundo. Son treinta y tres o treinta y cuatro semanas en el transcurso del año.

St. Rita A n n u a l Christmas Cantata will be presented on Friday, December 15th, beginning at 6:30PM in the Sanctuary. We invite all members of our faith community and their guests. This year's cantata is entitled simply JOY! It is a wonderful, contemporary musical celebration of the Christmas Season. We will have an even larger live chamber group than last year to accom p any our c o m b i n e d choirs. Immediately following the concert, we will have our annual Chili tasting in the parish hall. Everyone is invited to bring their favorite Chili recipe to share. NEW THIS YEAR: In conjunction with the chili tasting, there will also be a Christmas cookie exchange. Masses may be booked: No more than six months in advance. Up to Six Masses may be booked at a time and only one can be a weekend Mass (listed above). One intention per weekend.
