RITA CATHOLIC CHURCH, DADE CITY, FLORIDA September 24, 2017 USING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE By Sharon Womack Doty, J.D M.H.R We know that the best people to be responsible for protec ng our children are the caring adults who are part of their lives. We, who love them and are with them throughout their days, are best suited to the job of crea ng safe environments and protec ng our children from those who would do them harm. We also know that risks to our children o en come from the people we know and trust. The likely predator is someone we would least suspect. The warning signs are there and all too o en they are missed or overlooked. Some mes we talk ourselves out of our concerns because we are convinced that the people we know and trust are, in fact, trustworthy. Through our commitment to implement The Safe Environment program, we are learning to recognize the warning signs and take ac on to intervene to protect children. The more effec ve we become, the safer our children will be. We must pay a en on to what s going on with our children and, ul mately, must be willing to speak up and speak out about their suspicions and concerns. That is the only way that the Protect our Children Act can do what it is designed to do. 3 Page 3 September 24, 2017 FROM THE Dear friends PRIESTS DESK to Peter's question how many times do I have to forgive the person who offends me? To what extent should I endure their offenses? Jesus responds by telling the parable of a servant to which his king forgives him and he did not do the same with his brother. Evidently he speaks to us of forgiveness where is the key to begin to forgive? The first thing is to take away the sign that we are good people, better than others and experience God's forgiveness in our lives. I remember of a young man who once told me how he began to forgive. He did something very bad, I think it had to do with his academic life. His parents punished him hard, willing to do it without saying a word. But his grandmother interceded... do not punish him, he will not do it again. From that day he learned to forgive, when he felt forgiveness, without deserving it. Only forgiveness gives us life and new possibilities to continue. The sin of the server of the parable is that he does not continue forgiving, when his debt was forgiven by the King. The same thing our heavenly Father would do. If everyone does not forgive their brother at heart. Fr. Carlos J. Borgos Del Escritorio Queridos Del Sacerdote amigos(as) ante la pregunta de pedro Cuántas veces debo perdonar a la persona que me ofende? Hasta qué punto debo soportar sus ofensas? Jesus le responde contando la parábola de un servidor al cual su Rey lo perdona y este hizo lo mismo con su hermano. Evidente que nos habla del perdón Dónde está la clave para comenzar a perdonar? Lo primero es quitarnos el cartel de que somos muy buenos, mejor que los demas y experimentar el perdón de Dios en nuestras vidas. Recuerdo de un joven que un día me conto como comenzó a perdonar. El hizo algo muy malo, creo que tenía que ver con su vida académica. Sus padres lo castigaron fuerte, dispuesto a cumplirlo sin decir una palabra. Pero su abuela intercedió no los castiguen él no lo va hacer más. Desde ese día aprendió a perdonar, cuando sintió el perdón gratuito, sin merecerlo. Solo el perdón nos da vida y nuevas posibilidades de continuar. El pecado del servidor de la parábola es que no continuo perdonando cuando a él se le perdono la deuda. Lo mismo haría nuestro Padre del Cielo. Si cada cual no perdona a su hermano de corazón. Pa. Carlos J. Borgos

I was in Prison and you visited me. Matt 25:36 Women's Kairos #41 will take place Sept Oct 1 at Hernando Correctional Institution. St. Rita's supports this ministry and you can "visit" these women by praying for them. There is a sign-up sheet at each door of the church. If you are willing to pray anytime over the weekend, sign your first name and first initial of last name. Your name will be part of a prayer chain that will be hung in the HCI chapel. You can also donate store bought cookies (no nuts, powdered sugar or fruit). If the Lord leads you to do so you can make a monetary donation of any amount to the ministry.
