CATHOLIC RITA CATHOLIC CHURCH, DADE DADE CITY, FLORIDA November 26, 2016 OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST KING OF THE UNIVERSE The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, formerly referred to as "Christ the King," was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 as an antidote to secularism, a way of life which leaves God out of man's thinking and living and organizes his life as if God did not exist. The feast is intended to proclaim in a striking and effective manner Christ's royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations. Today's Mass establishes the titles for Christ's royalty over men: 1) Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; "All things were created by Him"; 2) Christ is our Redeemer, He purchased us by His precious Blood, and made us His property and possession; 3) Christ is Head of the Church, "holding in all things the primacy"; 4) God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His special possession and dominion. Today's Mass also describes the qualities of Christ's kingdom. This kingdom is: 1) supreme, extending not only to all people but also to their princes and kings; 2) universal, extending to all nations and to all places; 3) eternal, for "The Lord shall sit a King forever"; 4) spiritual, Christ's "kingdom is not of this world." Gandas CatholicCulture.org NUESTRO SEÑOR JESUCRISTO REY DEL UNIVERSO Es una de las fiestas más importantes del calendario litúrgico, porque celebramos que Cristo es el Rey del universo. Su Reino es el Reino de la verdad y la vida, de la santidad y la gracia, de la justicia, del amor y la paz. Al cerrar el año litúrgico con esta fiesta se quiso resaltar la importancia de Cristo como centro de toda la historia universal. Es el alfa y el omega, el principio y el fin. Cristo reina en las personas con su mensaje de amor, justicia y servicio. El Reino de Cristo es eterno y universal, es decir, para siempre y para todos los hombres. Con la fiesta de Cristo Rey se concluye el año litúrgico. Esta fiesta tiene un sentido escatólogico pues celebramos a Cristo como Rey de todo el universo. Sabemos que el Reino de Cristo ya ha comenzado, pues se hizo presente en la tierra a partir de su venida al mundo hace casi dos mil años, pero Cristo no reinará definitivamente sobre todos los hombres hasta que vuelva al mundo con toda su gloria al final de los tiempos, en la Parusía. La Iglesia tiene el encargo de predicar y extender el reinado de Jesucristo entre los hombres. Su predicación y extensión debe ser el centro de nuestro afán vida como miembros de la Iglesia. Se trata de lograr que Jesucristo reine en el corazón de los hombres, en el seno de los hogares, en las sociedades y en los pueblos. Con esto conseguiremos alcanzar un mundo nuevo en el que reine el amor, la paz y la justicia y la salvación eterna de todos los hombres. 3 Page 3 November 26, 2017 FROM THE PRIESTS DESK Brothers & sisters: I hope you all enjoyed a happy and restful Thanksgiving Day. These moments of family reunion and fellowship are certainly blessings in our lives. I am sure you will agree with me that family and faithful friends are treasures of great value. Today we honor Christ the King who is enthroned in eternal glory. We believe our Lord is Judge over the living and the dead. November is a month dedicated to the souls. We began by celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints and the next day we honored All Souls. Christ is constantly calling us to eternal Life. We do not know when the day of our call, the day we shall appear before the Lord, will befall. Today, every day, Jesus is present in the human beings among us in need. Today, right now, for people in our midst and beyond, people that perhaps we know or do not, their particular judgments occur. Those who are being summoned to God will finally be in the presence of their Creator. We ought to pray for them and for ourselves with trust and unwavering hope. As we prepare ourselves for the season of Advent, let us reflect on our daily living and judge for ourselves whether we are being faithful or unfaithful. In Iesus Dominus, Fr. Las reuniones y celebraciones familiares son ciertamente bendiciones en nuestras vidas. Pienso que estaréis de acuerdo cuando afirmo que la familia y las fieles amistades son tesoros de inmenso valor. Hoy honramos a Cristo Rey entronizado en su eterna gloria. Creemos que nuestro Señor es Juez de vivos y de muertos. Noviembre es ese mes especial dedicado a todas las almas. Comenzamos con la Solemnidad de Todos los Santos y al día siguiente celebramos Todos los fieles Difuntos. Cristo nos llama constantemente a la vida eterna. No sabemos cuándo será nuestro último día, el de nuestra comparecencia ante Dios. Hoy, todos los días, Jesús se hace presente a las personas que afrontan necesidades. Hoy, ahora, para la gente en nuestro alrededor y de más allá, personas que conocemos o no, experimentan su juicio particular. Los que están siendo llamados ante Dios finalmente estarán en la presencia del Creador. Debemos rezar por ellos y por nosotros mismos con fe y esperanza. St. Rita Annual Christmas Cantata will be presented on Friday, December 15th, beginning at 6:30PM in the Sanctuary. We invite all members of our faith community and their guests. This year's cantata is entitled simply JOY! It is a wonderful, contemporary musical celebration of the Christmas Season. We will have an even larger live chamber group than last year to accompany our combined choirs. Immediately following the concert, we will have our annual Chili tasting in the parish hall. Everyone is invited to bring their favorite Chili recipe to share. NEW THIS YEAR: In conjunction with the chili tasting, there will also be a Christmas cookie exchange. So bake your best cookies to come and share. CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE Our Christmas Giving Tree will be up starting THIS WEEKEND. 6 Page 6 November 26, 2017 For our winter parishioners we reprint: Practical hints in welcoming your new Pastor or Priest 1) Be patient with him. The stress of moving, the grief of leaving a familiar parish and the newness of it all might be a bit much for him. Be patient. 2) Don t beat a path to his door. Give him some time to unpack, get settled, finding all the bathrooms and getting the secretary s names straight. This might take a month or two, or longer see #1. 3) Give the new priest time to settle before dinner invitations are extended.although a nice plate of cookies or dropping off a small lasagna couldn t hurt. 4) Tell him your name and what you are involved with. Don t do this once or twice, but a number of times. Don t be offended if in six months or a year later he doesn t remember your name. He wants to. Really! So don t embarrass him, tell him again 5) Make sure he has help moving in if he wants it. The parish secretary can help knowing if he needs help. Some priests would welcome help, others desire privacy. They are all different. 6) Let him change his mind! Sometimes a decision made early is rushed or made without fully understanding the situation. It might be necessary for him to change his mind. Give him some wiggle room. 7) Try not to compare him to your former pastor. This will not be fully possible of course, and he will struggle in comparing his previous parish to the present. Comparisons will only impede a relationship. 8) Tell him your story, the story of the parish, the traditions, and the important values of the parish. Every parish and tradition in a parish has a story behind it. These stories are important for him to know. 9) When he asks how something is done in the past or what the protocol is, refrain from telling him Whatever you would like Father! We generally want to keep things the way they are and not fix something that is not broken, so don t be afraid to tell him how things operate in the parish. Sometimes a new pastor makes changes without even knowing they have changed anything because no one told him. 10) Let him get to know you and the parish. Be sure to invite him to different parish events. Yes, he sees the bulletin and should know when something is happening but he might not know if he is really wanted. 11) Pray for him and let him know you are praying for him! Minivan donation for our Church! If you have a minivan that you are not using or are thinking about selling, please consider donating it to the Church. You can claim the donation on your taxes. St Rita needs a vehicle that is in good to very good condition. Please see Ed Laezza or call the Church office if you have a vehicle you can donate. Thanks for thinking of St. Rita! It s envelope time again! We will again be distributing envelopes covering the entire year to all our registered parishioners who want to use them. Please note everyone using envelopes will again receive a new envelope number, and, although you are currently using envelopes, we need to hear from you. If you prefer not to use envelopes, that is fine, we can still record your donation as in the past if you put a check in the basket or in your own envelope marked with your name. If you would like to use envelopes but are not registered, please fill out a registration form located at the Church entrance (Robinson St. entrance) and drop in collection basket or stop by the office.
