1 Highway Alternatives February 23 and 24, 2005 DEIS Alternatives The results of the detailed screening analysis were used to help identify the most reasonable highway alternatives. The DEIS will fully evaluate these build alternatives and the no action alternative. The build alternatives include: DEIS Alternative A General purpose lanes on existing I- alignment. Four options will be evaluated in the DEIS for this alternative. These options will compare three concepts: o Adding one or two general purpose between I- and I-2 o Shifting to the north or south between Brighton Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard o Vertical alignments of existing level (viaduct) or below grade between Brighton Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard DEIS Alternative B Toll lanes on existing I- alignment between Colorado Boulevard and I-, general purpose lanes in remaining areas DEIS Alternative C General purpose lanes on I- realignment DEIS Alternative D Toll lanes on I- realignment between Vasquez Boulevard and I-, general purpose lanes in remaining areas Detailed Screening Results Six highway alternatives were evaluated in detailed screening. Two of these alternatives have been removed from further consideration, as shown with a strikethrough below. The remaining alternatives are included in the DEIS alternatives shown in the box above. A decision on the Preferred Alternative will be made after the DEIS is released based on the results of the DEIS analysis and public and agency comment.
