I.- COMPARATIVO En inglés existen 3 tipos de comparativo: INFERIORIDAD, IGUALDAD Y SUPERIORIDAD 1) COMPARATIVO DE INFERIORIDAD: Estructura: [less + than] / [not as...as] Ejemplo: He is less intelligent than you (El es menos inteligente que tu) Ejemplo: He is not as intelligent as you (El no es tan inteligente como tu) NOTA: Normalmente se utiliza less para incontables y fewer para los contables 2) COMPARATIVO DE IGUALDAD: Estructura: [as + as] Ejemplo: He is as intelligent as you (El es tan inteligente como tu) 3) COMPARATIVO DE SUPERIORIDAD El comparativo de superioridad tiene dos estructuras diferentes dependiendo de la longitud del adjetivo. ADJETIVOS CORTOS [-er + than] Ejemplo: He is taller than me (El es más alto que yo) ADJETIVOS LARGOS [more + than] Ejemplo: He is more intelligent than me (El es más inteligente que yo) SPECIAL SPELLING Pretty - Prettier (La "y" se sustituye por "i", y después se añade -er. Large - Larger (Se añade solo una "r" porque ya acabe en "e". Big - Bigger (Si un adjetivo acaba en consonate+vocal+consonante, se le dobla la última consonante y se añade er.

Las estructuras how much y how many se usan para preguntar la cantidad de algo. Las reglas de uso son muy sencillas: Nombres contables / Nombres incontables Usaremos how many para sustantivos contables en plural Usaremos how much con los sustantivos incontables "How many newspapers do you read every day?" "How much paper is in the printer?" "How many Euros have you got?" "How much money have you got?" Además, también podemos utilizar How much para preguntar por el precio de algo: How much is this car? / Cuánto cuesta este coche? How much are these bananas? / Cuánto cuestan esas bananas? Completa las siguientes preguntas con How much o How many, según corresponda: salt do you take in your salad? glasses of milk do you have for breakfast? time have we got to clean the bedroom? milk do you want? eggs can you eat? knives and forks are there? money do you need? bottles of wine can you see? IV.-CONDICIONAL IF Las cláusulas condicionales se comportan prácticamente del mismo modo en español y en inglés. La cláusula condicional propone una acción que provocará que otra ocurra. El sentido de cada oración varía dependiendo de los tiempos verbales que se utilicen. ***Primer condicional / First Conditional Indica que la condición es muy probable que se cumpla. Aquí una acción será completada si la otra acción se lleva a cabo.
Si voy a Puerto Rico, visitaré el Viejo San Juan. If I go to Puerto Rico, I will go to Old San Juan. A esta oración se la denomina oración condicional del primer tipo. Expresa una condición que es muy probable que se cumpla. If + condición + consecuencia If + Present + Future Simple Estas oraciones se forman comenzando con IF y agregando la condición, expresada en tiempo presente. Luego, se agrega lo que ocurrirá si se cumple esa condición, expresado en tiempo futuro simple (con will). If it rains, I will stay home. Si llueve, me quedaré en casa. If I have a headache, I will take an aspirin. Si tengo dolor de cabeza, tomaré una aspirina. If I am better tomorrow, I will go to work. Si me siento mejor mañana, iré a trabajar. También es posible realizar preguntas con las oraciones condicionales. What will you do if it rains? Qué harás si llueve? What will you do if you have a headache? Qué harás si tienes dolor de cabeza? Completa los recuadros con los verbos que se encuentran entre paréntesis en el tiempo correcto. Usa las formas cortas de los verbos siempre que sea posible. 1. V.- Indirect Object Pronouns Singular Plural 1st person me (to/for me) Nos (to/for us) 2nd person te (to/for you informal) os (to/for you informal) 3rd person le (to/for you formal, he, she, it) les (to/for them, you formal) Examples: When Do I Have an Indirect Object? Always ask the question "To whom?" or "For whom?" after each sentence. Your answer is your indirect object. Él compró unos regalos para nosotros. (He bought some gifts for us.) - For whom? For us. Us = nos Él nos compró unos regalos. (He bought us some gifts.) Indirect object pronouns follow the same placement rules as direct object pronouns: in sentences with one simple verb, the indirect object goes before the verb. Yo le tiro la pelota a Miguel. VI.- CONECTORES Los conectores copulativos son aquellos que unen algo a lo ya mencionado. 1.- And es la conjunción copulativa y en español. Puede unir varias palabras o frases, ejemplos: - He played the guitar and sang wonderful songs: El tocó la guitarra y cantó maravillosas canciones - It is hard for a student to work and study at the same time: Es difícil para un estudiante trabajar y estudiar al mismo tiempo. - I have a book, a pen and a pencil in my bag... - Paul and Sarah are at home.. - I work in a school and I also work in a hospital... - She comes here every day and we re friends...

But es la conjunción adversativa pero en español y va precedida de coma ejemplos:- - I m hungry, but the fridge is empty... - It s raining a lot, but it s warm... - I want to go on holidays, but I don t have any money... - She lives in Italy, but she doesn t speak a word of Italian... 3. Because es una conjunción causal, porque en español, ejemplos:- - He s cleaning the house because it s very dirty... -I m taking my umbrela because it s raining... - They re tired because they work many hours... 4.- Then es la conjunción luego entonces - First I have a sándwich (Primero yo tomo un sándwich) Then I do my homework (Luego yo hago mi tarea hogareña) -If it is not here, then it's lost. Si no está aquí, entonces está perdido. - If you like those shoes, then why don't you buy them? Si te gustan esos zapatos, entonces por qué no los compra. 5.- When introduce una actividad que es una corta interrupción introduce una actividad que es una corta interrupcion o ocurre en casi el mismo tiempo o poco despues de la otra actividad o ocurre en casi el mismo tiempo o poco después de la otra actividad. -James was walking down the street when he slipped. -James slipped when he started to walk down the street. -When we were watching a movie, my friend called. - Cuando estábamos viendo una película, mi amigo llamó. (corta interrupción, poco después) VII.- El uso de should Should es un verbo modal. Verbos modales 'ayudan' a otros verbos. Es decir se usan con otros verbos para expresar diferentes funciones. Should se usa para dar consejos. Afirmativos Se usa should + el infinitivo sin to Se usa should con todas las personas sin cambiar su forma I you he/she/it + should + infinitivo sin to we they
