March 1, 2018 Dear Ventura County Teachers: The Ventura County Fair invites students to earn free carnival rides through our reading program, Read & Ride for local kindergarten through 8 th grade students. Students are encouraged to read books to earn carnival ride passes for the 2018 Fair, which will be held August 1 st August 12 th at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. The Ventura County Fair is offering three ride passes for every two books read and a book reported submitted by Ventura County students. We look forward to encouraging and rewarding students who value reading. Please copy and distribute the enclosed form to all teachers at your school. Students are asked to write a brief summary, approximately 25 words, of the books they read. Children age six and under are welcome to draw a picture to illustrate the books content. Books must be approved by individual teachers to qualify. Submission deadline is July 1, 2018. Tickets will be mailed in late July (please use students home address for mailing). Three carnival ride passes will be provided for every two books read. Students can earn a maximum of six tickets by reading four books. For additional information, please call us at (805) 648-3376. Ventura County Fair Read & Ride Program 2018 The Read & Ride Program s goal is to encourage Ventura County students from kindergarten through 8 th grade to read books in exchange for carnival ride passes to this year s Ventura County Fair, August 1 August 12, 2018. Who Participates: What s the Deal: How Does It Work: All Ventura County Students in kindergarten through 8 th grade. For every two books a student reads and writes a report, they receive 3 carnival ride passes from the Ventura County Fair. Students can earn a maximum of six carnival rides by reading four books. After reading the books, students are asked to write a brief summary (approximately 25 words) on the attached form. (Children age six and under are welcome to draw pictures instead). The books must be approved by the student s teacher who signs the form to verify that the student has completed the books, and that the books are appropriate for the age and reading level of the kids. Distribution: Tickets will be mailed to students home addresses in late-july. Please make sure to print mailing address legibly.
