2 Dear Parents, Please review the Lebanon School District Dress Code in your calendar. To simplify things for the middle school level, please know that the following is expected. Tops: Collared shirts are required in any color Lebanon School District sweatshirts are permitted Lebanon School District t-shirts are permitted. Please remember that they may NOT have imprints or insignias on them except for the Lebanon School District insignias. Bottoms: Blue Jeans or joggers of sweat pant material are not allowed. Slacks, skirts, skorts, jumpers, shorts, joggers (khaki or dress pant material), and capris are also permitted as long as they are navy, blue, tan, brown, or black. Weather permitting! LMS UPDATE February 2015 Plaid colors are also permitted with navy blue, tan, brown, or black background. *Bottoms are to be worn at the waist. Footwear: Dress shoes or sneakers are permitted. Sandals are allowed, but not recommended in warmer weather if they have a around the heel. No flip flops or slippers are allowed. Other: Jackets, coats, and outerwear (including sunglasses) shall not be worn in school. The weather is getting colder, please be sure your children are dressing appropriately with hats and gloves! SAFETY REMINDERS: Please obey the cross walks when crossing the streets. They are there to keep pedestrians safe! When dropping off, please try to use Church Street as a drop off. 8 th street has been very congested and students are crossing unsafely. During drop off and pick up please keep dogs off of school grounds. 8 Communication Arts Happy New Year! What a great reason to explore new books and motivate yourself for the next 6 months of school! As we approach the half-way mark in this school year, please encourage your child to read outside of school. Did you know that if you have a public library card, you can search books and reserve them online? In a day or so, the library will call and let you know the book is being held at the front desk! Why not utilize a community resource which is so close to our school? Other reading ideas include The Merchandiser, The Daily Newspaper, or even some websites: newsela.com, poetry180.com, nytimes.com, etc. Poetry is the next unit of study for all students in grades 6-8. Students will be reading, analyzing, interpreting, and writing their own pieces of poetry to show their understanding of poetic devices. ESOL. Site includes information from the PDE on placing and exiting students, forms that the ESL department uses, and parent letters.
