Interpretive Interpersonal Students will present their ideas on the effects of social media on self esteem using various sources (provided). Students will use provided sources to write a persuasive essay on the topic of self esteem and social media. Students will listen to a popular song and watch a popular tv show in Spanish. They will identify aspects of both that relate to the concept of self esteem and compare the two sources. Students will discuss their ideas of the ideal girl or guy in terms of beauty. Students will write a letter to an editor about an article which mentions concepts of beauty (in Spanish) and ask a question to which they would like an answer. Students will orally present their ideas about interior and exterior beauty after having read/ heard two sources on the matter. Students will write an opinion piece on the topic of beauty and brains and take a position

Interpersonal Interpretive Students will simulate a conversation with a student who needs to take a break from all technology, evaluating her perspective on the issue. Students will respond to an about online shopping. Students will present on the topic of technology changes within their life time. Students will write a persuasive essay in which they take a position about adolescent access to the internet.

(Weeks 14 16) Semester 2 Interpersonal Interpretive Students will watch a mini documentary about a school whose goal is to help students learn to live w/o technology. Students will respond using the other modes, in Spanish. Students will assume roles of either parents or teenage children discussing the teenagers recent decision to get a tattoo, revealing cultural perceptions of tattoos. Student will respond to a perspective employers about whether they have tattoos or not. Students will present possible significance of tattoos among cultures. Students will take a position and debate about the topic of whether employers should consider tattoos when hiring a person. Students will read popular blogs and news articles on the topic of tattoos in Spanish and use them to contribute to their presentations and debates.
