To celebrate this event, we will gather in a candle light Rosary after the 7PM Mass on December 8th. Para celebrar este evento, tendremos un Rosario y Vigilia a la luz de las velas después de la Misa de las 7PM del 8 de diciembre. For the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis is granting indulgences to people who visit the four papal basilicas or a cathedral where they live; to anyone who performs just one of the traditional works of mercy; and also to prisoners, those suffering from illness, or elderly people who attend Mass or pray wherever they can. The following churches in the Archdiocese of Miami will have a designated Holy Door: St. Mary Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea Our Lady of Charity National Shrine Gesu Catholic Church St. Anthony Catholic Church Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church The opening of the Holy Door is scheduled for December 13 at St. Mary Cathedral at 10AM followed by a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Wenski. The same day all other Holy Doors in the Archdiocese of Miami will open.

3 Rite of Acceptance/Rite of Welcoming Journeys have beginnings, middles, and ends. They also have certain threshold or signposts that signal the steps or stages along the way which help us get from one point to another in our travels. The fourstep journey to faith embarked upon by the inquirers of RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, has such a structure. This Sunday, December 6, at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, we will celebrate the Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming. In the Rite of Acceptance there is a change in identity where those previously known as inquirers become catechumens and candidates. Here is a definition of each: Do you want to serve your Church, your family, and your community? Are you in 5th grade or higher? Have you received your First Holy Communion? Do you attend CCD or Blessed Trinity School? If the answer is YES, BECOME AN ALTAR SERVER Join us for training on the following dates from 11:15 AM til 12:30 PM Saturday, December 12, 2015 Saturday, January 9, 2016 Saturday, January 23, 2016 If you are an altar server already, and feel you need a refresher, especially if you were not at the last meeting, please come to one of these sessions Catechumen: A non-baptized individual who has made the decision to be baptized and enter the Church. Candidate: Previously baptized individual who seeks full communion with the Roman Catholic Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The Church will officially welcome the catechumens and candidates as disciples, members (albeit not yet full members) of the household of faith. Before the Rite of Acceptance, it is crucial that there has been a sufficient period for each inquirer, and that discernment has taken place to ready one for this step. Each individual needs to move along this journey at his/her own speed. This cannot and should not be rushed. As a community of faithful we accept the Catechumens and Candidates into our midst and help them to follow in the footsteps of Christ. This welcoming and acceptance occurs through their sponsors, representatives of our faith community, who speak for all of us when they come before the assembled people of God. We will be collecting clothes, shoes, underwear, toys (no battery operated, please), and school supplies (no back packs with wheels) for the Children and Youth Reading Circle at San Vicente del Caguán. Children range from 4-12 years of age. The items must be new and unwrapped. This foundation has the initiative to disarm children, offering them Literature as an alternative to the warlike games they play, in which they are learning violent, intolerant behaviors. Today this foundation, led by a Consolata Missionary Sister, has 600 children. Without the help from communities like ours, it wouldn t be possible for them to continue with this beautiful and necessary mission. Esta fundación tiene como objetivo el desarme infantil, ofreciéndole a los pequeños la lectura como alternativa a jugar a la guerra, que fomenta actitudes de violencia e intolerancia. Hoy en día esta fundación dirigida por una hermana Misionera de la Consolata, tiene a su cuidado a unos 600 niños y niñas que, sin la ayuda de comunidades como la nuestra, no se les haría posible seguir con esta misión tan hermosa y necesaria.
