Confirmation (High School or older) Dear Candidate, Baptism (7 years or older) The following guidelines will help you choose the right sponsor for Baptism / Confirmation. Having a sponsor is not just a one-time thing It is significant, relationship for the rest of your life. Candidates for Confirmation, as for Baptism, fittingly seek the spiritual help of a sponsor. (CCC. 1311) Qualities of a Sponsor 1. Be designated by the one to be baptized (Confirmed). 2. Have completed the 16 th year of age. (It is recommended that sponsor is older than the candidate) 3. Be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith. 4. Not be the father or mother of the one to be baptized /Confirmed. (Can ). Information you need to know about your sponsor: (This is for your information only; keep this copy.)
