9 La carta del consejero delegado 2012 ha sido para la industria aeronáutica un nuevo ejercicio de crecimiento. Los principales OEM alcanzan cifras récord de aviones entregados y los pedidos continúan incrementándose. A pesar del escenario global de dificultades financieras y el incremento del precio del combustible, el crecimiento del número de pasajeros se sitúa por encima del 5% en impulsado principalmente por las aerolíneas de Asia y Oriente Medio- y las previsiones (IATA) apuntan a incrementos similares en el ejercicio En este contexto, hemos alcanzado en 2012 buena parte de los objetivos previstos. Entre ellos el reto de incorporar los trabajos derivados del contrato para el suministro del paquete WFF del KC390, abordando con naturalidad el enorme desafío de trabajar por primera vez para Embraer, en el Programa de transporte militar más relevante de su historia, y en un entorno nuevo y prácticamente desconocido como es Brasil. En el caso del A350XWB 2012 ha supuesto la consolidación de los procesos de fabricación y montaje relacionados tanto con el VTP como con la sección 19 y la entrega de todos los componentes comprometidos, tanto los destinados a ensayos como los ya integrados en el MSN01. La evolución en los programas anteriores ha venido acompañada de la recuperación del A400M y de un incremento considerable en las entregas del A320. En la otra cara de la moneda están las dificultades derivadas de las modificaciones de diseño introducidas por el cliente en el A380, que a pesar de generar la necesidad de reubicar a algunas de las personas vinculadas al Programa, no han afectado al empleo. Al margen de las dificultades, 2012 ha sido un año de crecimiento. Nuestra cifra de facturación ha crecido por encima del 32% y hemos generado empleo incrementando nuestra plantilla casi un 8%. Nuestra calificación como suministradores de primer nivel de Airbus ha mejorado y el constructor europeo ha ratificado su confianza mediante la adjudicación de nuevos contratos en las FAL del A380 y el A350, lo que consolida nuestro establecimiento permanente en Hamburgo con una plantilla superior a 50 personas. De la misma manera crecemos también como suministradores de producto Boeing, doblando prácticamente las entregas del B737, mediante la asignación de nuevas responsabilidades en el B777 y la consecución de nuevas certificaciones. Aun teniendo en cuenta el momento de incertidumbre económica las previsiones permiten a la industria aeronáutica mirar al futuro con optimismo. Ante este escenario, en Aciturri continuaremos trabajando en 2013 para garantizar el cumplimiento de los objetivos de nuestro plan de negocio y consolidar nuestra posición como proveedores de primer nivel, accediendo a nuevos mercados, ampliando el abanico de tecnologías e incrementando nuestras capacidades de servicio. 10 The letter from the CEO The year 2012 has been for the aeronautical industry yet another financial period of growth. Not only have the major OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) achieved record numbers in delivered aircrafts, but their orders also continue to rise. Despite the adverse financial situation worldwide and the increase in fuel prizes, the rate of passengers is above 5% in 2012, mostly promoted by Asian and Middle-Eastern airlines. Likewise, IATA s estimates point in a similar direction in the year In this context, most of the objectives set at the beginning of 2012 have been achieved. Among them we can highlight the arduous task of incorporating those activities stemming from the contract in order to supply the WFF package for the KC390, naturally rising to the challenge represented by working for Embraer for the very first time. Apart from this being the most important military transportation program in the company s history, it has been developed in a new and virtually unknown framework: Brazil. In the specific case of the A350 XWB model, 2012 has represented the consolidation of manufacturing and assembly processes related to both the VTP and section 19. Also, we have succeeded in the delivery of all the promised components, may they be intended for tests only or those already built in as part of the MSN01. The evolution of our former programs has overlapped with the recovery of the A400M model and a significant growth in the A320 delivery. On the other side of the coin there are the difficulties resulting from the modifications in the design of the A380 introduced by the client, which despite causing the relocation of some of the people involved in the program has not affected employment negatively. Notwithstanding difficulties, 2012 has been a year of expansion. Our turnover has grown above 32% and we have increased our workforce to almost 8%. Our rating as Airbus high-level suppliers has improved and the European builder has endorsed their trust by awarding us with new contracts in the FAL of models A380 and A350, which consolidates our permanent branch in Hamburg with over 50 staff members. Likewise, we continue expanding as suppliers of Boeing products, basically doubling our deliveries of the B737 by taking on new responsibilities concerning this model, as well as by being granted new certifications. Despite the current times of financial uncertainty, estimates allow the aeronautical industry to look ahead with optimism. Against this backdrop, from Aciturri we will keep on working in 2013 to ensure that the objectives of our business prospects will be achieved and to reinforce our role as high-class suppliers. 20 Donde trabajamos Instalaciones Where we work Facilities Actualmente Aciturri cuenta en España (Madrid, Álava, Burgos, Valladolid, Sevilla y Cádiz) con siete centros de trabajo que albergan la actividad de las cuatro sociedades que integran la Compañía: Aciturri Metallic Parts, Aciturri Composites, Aciturri Engineering y Aeronáutica del Sur (AEROSUR). Tanto las dos instalaciones de Miranda de Ebro (Burgos) como la de Álava acogen los procesos productivos relacionados con la fabricación de componentes metálicos (piezas estructurales, carcasas y elementos de motor) y pequeños montajes de aeroestructuras metálicas y diferentes mecanismos y sistemas. La actividad de desarrollo, fabricación y montaje de aeroestructuras en composites avanzados, mediante diferentes tecnologías, se lleva a cabo en los centros de trabajo de Tres Cantos (Madrid) y Boecillo (Valladolid). Las plantas de Andalucía Sevilla y Cádiz- asumen el trabajo de integración para la entrega de conjuntos completos a cliente. Además, cada uno de los centros de trabajo cuenta con los equipos necesarios de ingeniería de utillaje e ingeniería de desarrollo, mientras que el grueso del equipo de ingeniería de definición de producto se concentra en Tres Cantos. Currently Aciturri has seven centres of operation spread throughout Spain: Madrid, Alava, Burgos, Valladolid, Seville and Cadiz. These house the activities of all four societies of which Aciturri is made up: Aciturri Metallic Parts, Aciturri Composites, Aciturri Engineering and Aeronáutica del Sur (AEROSUR). The facilities in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), together with those in Alava, are in charge of the productive processes concerning the manufacturing of metallic components (structure parts, engine housings, and other parts), as well as of the assembly of minor metallic aerostructures and different mechanisms and systems. The part of the process related to aircraft development, manufacturing and assembly in advanced composites through various technological means is performed in the facilities of Tres Cantos (Madrid) and Boecillo (Valladolid). The plants located in Andalusia, Seville and Cadiz, take care of the assembly of complete units to deliver to the client. Moreover, each and every centre of operations has the necessary engineering tools and engineering development, while most of the team specialized in product definition engineering is in Tres Cantos. 23 Burgos & Álava La Compañía cuenta con un total de metros cuadrados distribuidos en tres instalaciones. Los centros de trabajo de Berantevilla (Álava) y Miranda de Ebro albergan las actividades de fabricación mediante diferentes tecnologías de piezas estructurales, carcasas de motor y distintos componentes metálicos para mecanismos y motores. Disponen de un área de corte y preparado de material que supera los metros cuadrados, sus propios almacenes, un importante parque de centros de mecanizado de 3, 4 y 5 ejes, tornos verticales, y un área especializada en mecanizado mediante tecnología EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining). Al mismo tiempo cuentan con el apoyo de un almacén de metros cuadrados en el que se centralizan las actividades logísticas de la zona norte y metros dedicados al montaje de los utillajes diseñados por el equipo de ingeniería de Aciturri. La Firma dispone de un segundo centro de trabajo en el Polígono Industrial de Bayas en el que se lleva a cabo la gestión de todos los componentes metálicos de los diferentes Programas y que cuenta con área de montaje de aeroestructuras metálicas, mecanismos y sistemas, área de pintura manual y automatizada, línea automatizada de tratamientos superficiales, área de chapa y soldadura y equipos especializados para la realización de Ensayos No Destructivos mediante distintos métodos como Rayos X o líquidos penetrantes. El incremento progresivo de la actividad relacionada con el A350XWB ha supuesto la realización de algunos ajustes en el layout de la planta y la ejecución de la primera fase de un plan de inversiones que en 2012 se ha concretado en la incorporación de tres nuevos centros de mecanizado por valor aproximado de 3,5 MM para la fabricación, fundamentalmente, de componentes metálicos para la sección 19 del A350 y los timones y belly fairing del A380. Esta inversión se ha completado con la incorporación de nuevos equipos de medición tridimensional para componentes de grandes dimensiones y de Burgos & Alava The company has more than 18,000 m2 divided between three centres of operation. The facilities in Berantevilla (Alava) and Miranda de Ebro house the manufacturing activities, which uses different technology of structural detail parts, engine housings and various metallic components for mechanisms and engines. These centres have a spacious area of over 2,000 m2 exclusively devoted to the cutting and raw material preparation, as well as their own warehouses, a major pool of machining centres of 3, 4 and 5-axis, vertical turning centres (lathes), and specialized area in EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) technology. Besides this, there is also available 4,000-m2 warehouse where all the logistics organization of the northern corridor are managed, as well as 1,000 m2 devoted to the tooling assembly designed by Aciturri s engineering team. The firm has a second centre of operations in Bayas Industrial Park. Here, the focus is on the management of the different metallic components of all Programmes. Also, there is an assembly plant for metallic aerostructures, mechanisms and systems, and areas for manual and automated painting, a surface treatment automated line, sheet metal working and welding, and specialized systems in non-destructive testing by means of X-rays or penetrating liquids. The progressive increase of the activities related to the A350XWB model has led to some adjustments in the layout of the plant and the execution of the first stage of an investment plan which in 2012 focused on the incorporation of three new machining centres worth approximately 3.5 m. euros for the manufacturing of metallic components for A350 s section 19 and A380 s rudders and belly fairings. This investment has been completed with the incorporation of new 3D-measuring equipment for large components and a system which significantly improves the 23

Valladolid Las instalaciones dedicadas a la fabricación y montaje de aeroestructuras en material compuesto se completan con el centro de trabajo del Parque Tecnológico de Boecillo en Valladolid. Uno de los más significativos es la entrada en operación de una nueva máquina CNC para el mecanizado de revestimientos, que unida a la incorporación de un equipamiento para la inspección por ultrasonidos ha hecho posible asumir internamente el proceso completo de mecanizado e inspección de los revestimientos del HTP del A320. Sevilla & Cádiz La presencia de Aciturri en uno de los principales polos aeronáuticos europeos ha contribuido a consolidar la posición de la firma como TIER 1. Los centros de trabajo de Aciturri en Alcalá de Guadaira y en la Zona Franca de Cádiz acogen el grueso de la actividad de integración de la Compañía. En los casi metros cuadrados de instalaciones se desarrollan los trabajos necesarios para el montaje final de los conjuntos aeronáuticos que Aciturri entrega completamente terminados al cliente. La incorporación de un Centro de Excelencia en integración ha permitido transferir con éxito a Andalucía trabajos de montaje que anteriormente se llevaban a cabo en otras instalaciones de la Compañía, como el de timones del Falcon 7X o los sponsons del A400M. El incremento de las entregas del rudder del B737 en 2012 hizo necesario transferir nada más iniciar el año una segunda grada de montaje de este producto desde las instalaciones de Airbus Military en Tablada. La operación generó la necesidad de llevar a cabo una reorganización importante de los montajes que se llevan a cabo en las instalaciones de Sevilla y la ejecución de todos los trabajos necesarios para garantizar en el montaje condiciones como ausencia de vibraciones, estabilidad dimensional o temperatura homogénea. Seville & Cadiz The presence of Aciturri in one of the European aeronautical bastions has contributed to the consolidation of the company as TIER 1. The centres of operation in Alcala de Guadaira and Cadiz s free port house most of the firm s integration activities. In an area of nearly 15,000 m2 the necessary steps are taken for the final assembly of aircraft units which Aciturri delivers to the client completely equipped. The creation of an Integration Centre of Excellence has enabled to successfully transfer to Andalusia assembly processes previously produced in other plants, such as that of Falcon 7X rudders or A400M sponsons. The growth in the orders of B737 rudder in 2012 led at the beginning of the year to the incorporation of a second assembly zone for this product, which was brought from the Airbus Military facilities in Tablada. Such operation created the need to thoroughly rearrange the assembly processes taking place in Seville s centre of operations, along with the execution of all the necessary jobs to guarantee a vibration-free assembly with dimensional stability and steady temperature. 27

29 Los resultados Informe Económico The results Economic Report Aciturri ha finalizado 2012 con unos resultados alineados con su Plan de Negocio, consolidando la evolución favorable de los últimos años y manteniendo tasas de rentabilidad homologables a las de las empresas líderes del sector, acreditando así que lo hecho en los últimos ejercicios obedece a una estrategia consecuente con la situación económica global y los requerimientos del sector en el que opera. El mantenimiento de la rentabilidad, unido a la aplicación de una estricta política de contención y control de gasto, han supuesto un fortalecimiento de la estructura de balance de Aciturri que permite abordar con seguridad el Plan de Negocio previsto para los próximos ejercicios. Aeronáutica del Sur, última integración en el perímetro de la Compañía, está ya plenamente incorporada a la operativa de Aciturri y su rentabilidad se sitúa en la media de la misma tras un periodo de saneamiento y adaptación de sus procedimientos a los del Grupo. En un escenario financiero que otorga escasas posibilidades a las inversiones industriales, la labor de Aciturri ha sido reconocida por un mercado bancario que ha permitido el acceso a la financiación necesaria para dar respuesta a su plan de inversiones y atender a los compromisos asumidos con el mercado y con sus clientes. La evolución de la deuda en relación con el Ebitda generado, sitúa además a Aciturri en la posición adecuada para continuar acudiendo a los mercados de financiación. La Compañía afronta en los próximos ejercicios un importante reto en las partidas financieras vinculadas a los mercados de divisas. Los mercados de materias primas a los que accede Aciturri -que operan en divisas diferentes al euro-, y la creciente dolarización de sus ventas, exigirán un esfuerzo importante para cubrir las fluctuaciones de los precios de las divisas y reducir su impacto en la cuenta de resultados. Aciturri has concluded 2012 with results in line with our Business Plan, consolidating the favourable evolution of the last few financial years and maintaining return rates equivalent to those of leading firms in the sector. This proves that the action taken in past years conforms to a strategy in tune with today s global economic situation and with the demands of the sector where we operate. Cost-effective maintenance, together with our restrain policy and expense control, has entailed a reinforcement of Aciturri s assessment structure which enables to address the Business Plan drafted for the next few years with self-confidence. The last incorporation to the Group, Aeronautica del Sur, is completely integrated into Aciturri s operations and its cost-effectiveness has reached the company s average after a period of reorganization and acclimation of its procedures. Given the few opportunities for industrial investment granted by the current financial situation, it is remarkable that Aciturri s work has been acknowledged by a banking market that has allowed access to the required funding to carry out our investment plan and meet the commitments made with the market and our clients. The evolution of our debt in relation with the generated EBIT- DA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) puts us in a favourable position to continue receiving funding from the market. In the forthcoming financial years, the firm faces a significant challenge regarding the interim statements linked to currency markets. Aciturri s raw material markets, which operate in currencies other than the euro, along with the growing tendency to use the dollar in all financial operations, will require an exceptional effort to make up for the fluctuation in currency values and to minimize its impact in our economic results. 29

32 Lo que hacemos Actividad What we do Bussines Aeroestructuras Aciturri ha incorporado en 2012 varios contratos para la ejecución de distintos trabajos en la FAL Final Assembly Line- del A380 y A350 en Hamburgo y un nuevo contrato para la fabricación de los flaperones del B777 de Boeing. En ambos casos se trata de trabajos relevantes y en los que existe la posibilidad de continuar creciendo. Los primeros suponen la consolidación de la confianza depositada por Airbus en el conocimiento y la experiencia del equipo de Aciturri en la ejecución de trabajos en sus líneas de ensamblaje. El caso del B777, contrato para la fabricación del 50% de los revestimientos de los flaperones -el componente del flap ubicado en el extremo del ala-, implica la consecución de nuevas certificaciones de Boeing y por tanto un nuevo paso de Aciturri en su objetivo de mejorar su posición como suministrador de la compañía estadounidense. En torno a los trabajos en cartera el equipo ha centrado sus esfuerzos en el lanzamiento del Wing Fuselage Fairing (WFF) del KC390, las primeras entregas de VTP y S19 del A350XWB, el incremento de rate del HTP del A320, la puesta a punto de todos los procesos relacionados con el A400M tras el relanzamiento del Programa y por supuesto en satisfacer los calendarios de entregas previstos en el resto de programas. Aciturri ha afianzado en 2012 su posición como suministrador de aeroestructuras de Airbus. La compañía participa desde 2010 en SQIP (Supply Chain Quality Improvement Programme), programa de mejora de la cadena de suministro impulsado por el constructor aeronáutico con el objetivo de desarrollar un conjunto de proveedores de aeroestructuras que sean referencia a nivel internacional. En torno a esta iniciativa Aciturri ha alcanzado en Aciturri ha afianzado su posición como suministrador de Airbus y ha incorporado como cliente a Embraer. Aciturri has reinforced its position as Airbus supplier and can now count Embraer among its clients. Aerostructures In 2012, Aciturri has secured several contracts for different jobs projects in the A380 and A350 Final Assembly Line (FAL) located in Hamburg, as well as a new contract for the manufacturing of Boeing B777 flaperons. Both jobs are relevant and guarantee a continuing growth. The former is a symbol of the trust Airbus has put in our knowledge and experience regarding our assembly line jobs. Where the B777 is concerned, the contract for the manufacturing of 50% of its flaperon skins, the control surface part at the wing end, has led to granting new Boeing certifications, and therefore a step forward for Aciturri to improve the position as supplier for the American company. As for the order book, our team has channeled their efforts into various endeavours: the launching of the KC390 Wing Fuselage Fairing (WFF); the first deliveries of A350XWB VTP and S19; the rate increase of the A320 HTP; the servicing of all the processes concerning the A400M after the Programme s relaunching; and needless to say, into meeting all the delivery deadlines planned for all the other programmes. In 2012 Aciturri reinforced its role as Airbus aerostructure supplier. Since 2010, the firm takes part in the SQIP (Supply Chain Quality Improvement Programme), which aims at improving the supply chain promoted by the aeronautical constructor and whose objective is to develop a group of aerostructure suppliers with international recognition. Concerning this initiative, Aciturri achieved several milestones, among them we can highlight 32

34 KC390 Aciturri cerró el ejercicio 2011 con la adjudicación en diciembre por parte de Embraer del contrato para el diseño, fabricación, montaje e integración final del paquete Wing-to-Fuselage Fairing (WFF) del nuevo KC390. La llegada de este contrato supuso un gran hito en la historia de Aciturri y la necesidad arrancar 2012 abordando el enorme desafío de trabajar por primera vez para Embraer, en el Programa de transporte militar más relevante de su historia, y hacerlo en Brasil, un entorno prácticamente desconocido para el equipo de Aciturri. Con el inicio del año un equipo de ingeniería de Aciturri desplazado a Sao José dos Campos Estado de Sao Paulo, en la región sudeste del país- comenzó a trabajar junto a Embraer en la fase de diseño conceptual del paquete, y ya en el segundo trimestre del año arrancaron los trabajos para el desarrollo de los útiles de moldeo y recanteo de los paneles del WFF, las gradas de montaje y equipado y los equipos auxiliares. Aciturri cuenta desde entonces con una oficina en Brasil encargada de facilitar las relaciones con el cliente y optimizar las transacciones y flujos logísticos entre España y el país sudamericano. Esta primera fase de ingeniería concurrente finalizó a principios de julio con la consecución de la PDR -Preliminary Design Review-, hito que establece la aprobación por parte del cliente del diseño conceptual y por el que autoriza a Aciturri a iniciar los trabajos de diseño de detalle de los componentes que finalmente se integrarán en el avión y del utillaje necesario para la fabricación de la serie. En este caso se incluye además la fabricación de la grada de montaje, un trabajo que hasta ahora no asumía habitualmente Aciturri. Durante el segundo semestre del año se fueron alcanzando el resto de los objetivos establecidos por el Programa, como el lanzamiento de la fabricación de varios útiles de curado para las piezas de fibra de carbono y del utillaje de ensamblaje final, todos ellos diseñados y fabricados internamente. KC390 In December 2011, Aciturri rounded off the year with the awarding of Embraer s contract for the design, manufacturing, assembly, and final integration of the new KC390 Wing-to-Fuselage Fairing [WFF] package. This contract symbolised an unparalleled achievement in Aciturri s history, but also the necessity to step into 2012 working to rise up to the challenge posed by working for Embraer s most relevant military transportation programme ever and, what is more, by doing it in Brazil, a new and virtually unknown framework for our team. With the onset of the new year, one of Aciturri s engineering teams previously sent to Sao Jose dos Campos, in the southeastern state of Sao Paulo, started to work hand in hand with Embraer in the stage of package conceptual design. Later on, in the second third of the year, they started to work on the development of the moulding and cutting tools for the WFF control panel, the assembly and equipped stations, and the auxiliary systems. Ever since, Aciturri s branch in Brazil is in charge of enabling the relationship with our clients, as well as of optimizing the transactions and logistics between Spain and the South American country. This first stage of contributory engineering concluded in early July upon the awarding of the Preliminary Design Review [PDR], milestone which confirms the recognition of the conceptual design on the part of the client. This gives Aciturri the green light to start working on the detailed design of the components which will eventually make up the aircraft, as well as the necessary tools for the manufacturing of the series. In addition, Aciturri takes care of the assembly tooling manufacturing, a job we did not usually undertake until up to now. The second half of the year witnessed the achievement of the rest of the objectives set in the Programme such as the launching of the manufacturing of a number of curation tooling for carbon fiber parts and the required final assembly tooling. All of these are proudly designed and manufactured internally. 34

35 A diferencia de los componentes en material compuesto, que se fabricarán íntegramente en las instalaciones de Aciturri en Tres Cantos, la fabricación de elementos metálicos se distribuirá entre los centros especializados en estructura metálica de Aciturri en España y subcontratistas afincados tanto en España como en el país del cliente. Este condicionante ha hecho necesario llevar a cabo una exhaustiva revisión del mercado de suministradores en Brasil, mediante el análisis de múltiples ofertas y auditorías de Calidad, con el objetivo de seleccionar a los más adecuados para optimizar la cadena de suministro del Programa. La selección de un suministrador de montaje en Brasil, condición recogida en el contrato, ha sido junto al estudio logístico una de las labores que mayor esfuerzo ha requerido en los últimos meses del año. Tras la revisión de todas las opciones disponibles el suministrador de montaje seleccionado fue SOBRAER -filial de SONACA en Brasil-, compañía experta en montajes y suministrador de primer nivel de Embraer que permitirá a Aciturri abordar montajes complejos lejos de sus instalaciones manteniendo sus niveles habituales de calidad y entrega. Unlike the components of composite material, which will be integrally manufactured in Aciturri s facilities in Tres Cantos, metallic ones will be produced both by our different centres of operation in Spain specialized in that material and by subcontractors settled in Spain but also in the client s country. This determining factor stressed the need for an full-scale review of Brazil s supplier market through the analysis of multiple offers and quality audits, all of them aiming at choosing the most appropriate ones to optimize the Programme s supply chain. The choice of an assembly supplier in Brazil, which was one of the stipulations of the contract, was along with the logistic study one of the most considerable efforts during the last few months of the year. After a thorough search of all the available options, the chosen assembly supplier was SOBRAER, an affiliated of SONACA in Brazil, a firm with a vast experience in assembly processes and one of Embraer s high-class supplier which will make it possible for Aciturri to take on new complex assemblies away from our facilities, yet maintaining our usual level of quality and delivery. 37 A350XWB Aciturri es responsable en el Programa del diseño, fabricación y certificación del VTP (Vertical Tail Plane o Estabilizador Vertical) y de la fabricación y montaje de las partes internas de la sección 19. El equipo de Aciturri ha consolidado en 2012 la puesta a punto de todos los procesos de fabricación y montaje relacionados con el VTP y ejecutado de acuerdo al calendario definido por el cliente las entregas de componentes de los 8 primeros aviones, incluidos los destinados a ensayos (ES, FST y EF-3) y los del MSN01, enviado a principios de año a Airbus en Stade e integrado en la FAL (Final Assembly Line o Línea de Ensamblaje Final) del constructor en Touluse. Los equipos de ingeniería han lanzado en 2012 la validación de diseño mediante ensayos estructurales tanto de especímenes como del VTP completo y han desarrollado las modificaciones asociadas a la segunda configuración del componente a partir del avión 5- e iniciado las de la tercera configuración desde el avión 17-. Asimismo Aciturri ha recibido la delegación de firma de Airbus para el paquete VTP, tanto en lo que afecta a diseño como en materiales y procesos, hecho que confiere al equipo la responsabilidad en lo relacionado con ambas áreas y en algunos casos la capacidad para validar el empleo de materiales alternativos. En el caso de los elementos de la estructura secundaria (bordes de ataque), Aciturri ha desarrollado las modificaciones necesarias para adecuar el diseño a las nuevas necesidades de cálculo definidas por el cliente para estos componentes. Asimismo el equipo ha cerrado la planificación para la ejecución de estas modificaciones en los 4 aviones que ya había entregado y garantizar su reposición entre marzo y mayo de A350XWB Aciturri s responsibilities within the Programme include the design, manufacturing and certification of the VTP [Vertical Tail Plane] and the manufacturing and assembly of the internal parts of section 19. The Aciturri crew consolidated in 2012 the fine-tuning of all the manufacturing and assembly processes related to the VTP and met the commitments agreed upon with the clients by delivering the components for the first eight jets, including those meant to be used for testing [ES, FST, and EF-3], as well as the ones for the MSN01 model. The latter were sent to Airbus in Stade (Germany) at the beginning of the year and integrated as part of the FAL [Final Assembly Line] from the constructor located in Toulouse (France). The engineering teams launched in 2012 the validity of the design by means of structural testing of both spare specimen and the complete VTP. Also, they carried out the modifications connected with the second configuration of the component setting off from aircraft 5 and they got started with the third configuration adaptations from aircraft 17. Likewise, Aciturri was assigned the VTP package at the hands of Airbus, which affects both the design and the processes and materials. This way, the responsibility of those two sections, and in some cases also the potential to use alternative materials, were bestowed on our team. Where the elements of the secondary structure are concerned (leading edges), Aciturri has carried out the necessary modifications so that the design fits the new calculation requirements defined by the client for these components. In the same vein, the team has finalized the planning for the execution of the above-mentioned modifications in the four aircrafts already delivered and for the necessary restock between March and May

38 También en relación al A350 la Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea de España (AESA) ha concedido en 2012 a Aciturri la certificación como Production Organization Approval (POA) para la producción de componentes y conjuntos estructurales, concesión que afecta tanto al cajón del VTP como a la estructura interna de la S19 y habilita a determinadas personas de la organización para firmar los certificados de aeronavegabilidad de los componentes fabricados en las instalaciones de la Compañía. Asimismo, las plantas de producción de Aciturri ligadas a la fabricación de componente metálico y compuesto Miranda y Boecillo- han superado con notable éxito las auditorías IPCA (Industrial Process Capability Assesment) de Airbus, diseñadas por el constructor aeronáutico para medir la madurez alcanzada por sus proveedores para gestionar materiales, no conformidades y retrasos, la cadena de suministro y los procesos industriales. En lo que se refiere a las partes internas de la S19 el equipo de Aciturri Metallic Parts ha adecuado el ritmo de fabricación de componentes metálicos a las necesidades del programa. La factoría de Miranda ha definido y puesto en marcha el proceso de fabricación de las cuadernas de aluminio de la estructura superior, incluyendo la entrada en operación de un nuevo centro de mecanizado, la incorporación de nuevos requerimientos técnicos y de la tecnología shotpeening. También en el área de Tratamientos Superficiales ha sido necesario incorporar nuevos procesos como el anodizado tartárico. Metallic Parts ha sido una de las primeras compañías en España en alcanzar la certificación de este proceso para aluminio con el propósito de poder aplicarlo a los componentes de la S19. De la misma manera toda la plantilla del área de Calidad implicada en el Programa ha alcanzado la certificación necesaria para certificar producto Airbus Military, y la Compañía ha cerrado la FPQ (First Part Qualification) del A350, validación técnica del primer elemento que constituye la aceptación de que el producto entregado cumple con la especificación dada por el cliente. Also concerning the A350, in 2012 the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) awarded Aciturri the Production Organization Approval (POA) certification for the production of components and structural units, which had an impact on the VTP s wing box and on the internal structure of Section 19. In addition, it entitles specific members of our team to validate air navigability certificates of those components manufactured in the company s facilities. Aciturri s production plants where the manufacturing of metallic and composite materials takes place, Miranda and Boecillo, passed Airbus s IPCA (Industrial Process Capability Assesment) audits with flying colours. These are designed by the aeronautical constructor with the purpose of measuring the maturity level of the suppliers regarding the management of materials, non-conformities and delays, the supply chain and the industrial processes. As for the internal parts of Section 19, Aciturri s Metallic Parts crew has adapted the pace of metallic component manufacturing to the demands of the programme. The factory set in Miranda has defined and set in motion the manufacturing of the aluminium ribs integrated in the upper structure, including the starting of a new machining centre, the introduction of new technical demands and the shot-peening technology. The introduction of new processes such as the tartaric sulphuric acid anodizing has been equally necessary in the area of Surface Treatments. Metallic Parts has been one of the pioneering firms in Spain in being awarded the certification of this process for aluminium with the pursuit of its application on Section 19 components. In the same vein, all the staff members from the Quality Control Department who are involved in the Programme have been entitled to certify Airbus Military products. The company has concluded the A350 s FPQ (First Part Qualification), which represents the technical validity of the first element to show confirmation that the product delivered to the clients complies with their specifications. 38

En el caso de los revestimientos -uno de los componentes clave en el montaje del cajón- Aciturri ha conseguido implantar un proceso de fabricación estable que permite satisfacer las elevadas cadencias del Programa, gracias a la dedicación de un equipo técnico multidisciplinar volcado en la mejora continua, la apuesta por la internalización de los procesos finales de las piezas -mecanizados e inspecciones-, y la ejecución de las inversiones precisas para A320 The Aciturri team has consolidated the project of vertical integration of the A320 horizontal tail plane (HTP) torsion wing box, confronting the expected substantial increase in the volume of deliveries in the 2012 financial year. There are two major factors that have contributed to this achievement: the sound network of suppliers created around the project, and the quality and agility in the components supply from every one of our centres of operations. Regarding skins, one of the key components in the assembly of the wing box, Aciturri has successfully implemented a firm manufacturing process which allows to cater for the Programme s frantic rhythm. All of this thanks to the dedication of a multidisciplinary technical team consecrated to perpetual upgrading, but also to the trust in the internalisation of the parts final processes, machining and quality inspection, and the execution of the necessary investments to overcome the project s 39
