3 The month of November is a month for not only reflecting on our loved ones who have died, but also we will focus on Stewardship. Stewardship means respecting and sharing our resources as an expression of gratitude to God. It reminds us that we are the administrators, not the owners of our assets. It is a way of life, not a program that has a beginning and an end. Stewardship calls us to share a portion of our time, talent and treasure so that the Good News of Jesus Christ may be shared with those who do not know Him. All Souls Day remembrance sheets are available in the black binder in the gathering space. Please pick one up, write the names of your deceased loved ones, and return it to the binder. The binder will be placed close to the Sanctuary during the month of November for a special remembrance. What is a Cantor? The Cantor is both a singer and a leader of congregational song. Especially when no choir is present, the Cantor may sing in alternation or dialogue with the assembly. For example, the cantor may sing the invocations of the Kyrie, intone the Gloria, lead the short acclamations at the end of the Scripture readings, intone and sing the verse of the Gospel Acclamation, sing the invocation of the Prayer of the Faithful, and lead the singing of the Agnus Dei. The cantor may also sing the verses of the psalm or song that accompany the Entrance, Preparation of the Gifts, and Communion. Finally, the cantor may serve as psalmist, leading and proclaiming the verses of the Responsorial Psalm. RCIA News On Sunday, October 4 th adults and youth made public their intent to journey closer to Christ, as we celebrated the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of the Catechumenate. The Catechumens will continue to be dismissed to break open the Word. Please take the opportunity to welcome these individuals to Saint Rose of Lima. May we all pray for them and their faith journey as they prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation. MANDATORY SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM The Diocesan Safe Environment Program will be held Monday, October 26 th and Tuesday, October 27 th, 2015, at 6:00pm in the Church. ALL CHRISTIAN FORMATION STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AND A PARENT/GURADIAN MUST ATTEND WITH THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN. Students who do not attend this program will have an unexcused absence and will be required to speak to the Christian Formation Director to make arrangements to take the class on their own time. This will not be a class they can make up during regular class time. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION II MANDATORY PARENT MEETING The first mandatory meeting for parents of First Holy Communion II (2 nd grade) candidates and Sacrament Formation candidates will be held Monday, November 9 th or Tuesday, November 10 th in the Church Rotunda, during your student s class time. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm or 7:00pm for both English and Spanish speaking parents. Parents are reminded that children are not to be brought to this meeting.
