Teaching methodology The subject is based on an exhibition methodology (lecture) using PowerPoint slides as support to teach the theoretical (20%), a participative methodology to teach the part of practical problems related to the theory (16%), active and collaborative learning to carry out different practises along the course (4%) and self- learning (60%): The practises, which are compulsory to attend, will be done in groups of two people during the class hours dedicated for this activity. Depending on the type of the practice and before it is carried out, the students will have to present an individual report about the practice mentioned beforehand following the indications of its script, the previous inform is required so as to evaluate the practice. By the end of the class, the students will hand in, in groups, a report with the resolution of the problem set in the practice. Learning objectives of the subject The course aims to provide students with a range of expertise to analyze and solve environmental problems and be able to propose sustainable alternatives, especially those aspects related to industrial activity. Therefore, after the course the student should be able to: 1 / 7

Identify and develop alternatives to minimize the environmental impact of an activity. 4. Describe and evaluate proposals to make more sustainable an activity. Els contaminants atmosfèrics: origen, característiques i efectes. Mecanismes naturals de depuració de l'aire: factors meteorològics; mecanismes de dispersió de contaminants; models de dispersió de contaminants. Mecanismes de prevenció, control i correcció de la contaminació: tipus d'equip i selecció; equips pel control de l'emissió de partícules; equips pel control de l'emissió de gasos. La degradació del sòl: mecanismes de degradació; metalls pesants; hidrocarburs; altres compostos tòxics. Mecanismes naturals que afecten als contaminants en el sòl: transport per advecció, dispersió i difusió; retenció: adsorció, precipitació i reacció química; atenuació. Tractaments per a la recuperació de sòls: classificació i selecció; retirada i deposició a l'abocador; estabilització i confinament; tractaments fisicoquímics, biològics i tèrmics. Els residus industrials i el seu tractament: característiques; el catàleg de residus; tractaments fisicoquímics i biològics; tractaments tèrmics; abocadors. (ENG) TEMA 6-IMPACTE AMBIENTAL ACCIDENTAL Learning time: 27h Practical classes: 6h Self study : 16h (ENG) Introducció: definició de risc, tipus i paràmetres de mesura. Riscos greus: legislació. L'anàlisi de risc: mètodes d'identificació de riscos: anàlisi històrica; índex de risc; HAZOP; arbres de fallades. 7 Regulations for carrying out activities The tests, both partial and final exams, can be done with all bibliographic material available: notes from class, consulting books, collection of problems' The partial exam is a test which lasts 1 hour and a quarter. The final exam consists of a test part with a value of the 30% of the final mark of the exam and with duration of 1 hour, and another part of problems with a value of the 70% of the final exam mark and lasting 2 hours.
