Mary told St. Simon Stock to promote devotion of the brown scapular. The scapular is a modified version of Mary s own garment. It symbolizes her special protection and calls the wearers to consecrate themselves to her in a special way. The scapular reminds us of the gospel call to prayer and penance a call that Mary models in a splendid way. Christ Child Society Seeking Donations for Layettes Support the Christ Child Society: Christ Child Society will be picking up donations in the Narthex from July 1 through 31, The Christ Child Cribs will be in the main entry of the church. Please pick up a heart, purchase the item listed and return the item with the heart by placing it inside the Christ Child Society Crib. The item that you donate will be included in a layette. In the end this parable is about abundance, God makes the seed bear fruit many times over. Mother Teresa once said If you cannot feed 100 people, feed just one. If we are fruitful recipients of the Word of God, how much will God multiply that good in the world?
