3 My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes, 14 de Febrero del Primer Domingo de Cuaresma...Message from Msgr. Happy Lent! With the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes so close to Lent I didn t have a chance to write about our schedule or about our unique Lenten Mission for this year. Many of you already know because we passed out Matthew Kelly s book Rediscover Jesus at all the Masses of Ash Wednesday. We are passing out all that remain at the Masses this weekend. Matthew Kelly is part of a ministry called Dynamic Catholic and is himself a very dynamic Catholic writer and speaker. He is the author of the very popular Rediscover Catholicism. I have read Rediscover Jesus and I recommend it. It is written in 40 chapters of two to three pages with points to ponder, discuss, and practice at the end of each chapter. It is perfectly laid out for us to make a grand Parish Lenten Mission out of it. The back cover of the book introduces the Best Lent Ever program: a free program that features daily two-minute videos that take you through Rediscover Jesus, chapter by chapter. I am inviting each of us to use Rediscover Jesus as our Lenten meditation tool. Let us each read a chapter a day and then ponder and share the points brought up, encouraging each other to rediscover Jesus this Lent. Let us also renew our commitment to participate in 40 Days for Life. 40 Days for Life, a regular part of our yearly Lenten schedule, is the national campaign where we are asked to join our brothers and sisters throughout the Archdiocese of Miami in a Lent-long prayer vigil, asking our Lord to set us free from the darkness and death of abortion. As a parish family, Our Lady of Lourdes is committed to pray in front of the abortion center at 6660 SW 117th Avenue each Tuesday of Lent from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Our Respect Life Ministry will be at the entrance to the church with the sign-up sheet to be sure that we have the whole day covered. Please choose an hour to come and pray with us. Entering anew into the Lenten rhythm of the parish may the Lord greatly bless our journey to Easter and new life! Msgr. Schwanger Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,...Mensaje del Mons. Feliz Cuaresma! Con la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes tan cerca de la Cuaresma no tuve la oportunidad de escribir sobre nuestro programa o sobre nuestra Misión Cuaresmal particular para este año. Muchos de ustedes ya saben ya que repartimos el libro de Matthew Kelly "Vuelve a descubrir a Jesús" en todas las misas del Miércoles de Ceniza. Estamos repartiendo todo lo que queda en las Misas este fin de semana. Vamos a leer un capítulo cada día y luego reflexionar y compartir los puntos planteados, ayudándonos entre sí a volver a descubrir a Jesús en esta Cuaresma. Renovemos también nuestro compromiso de participar en 40 Días por la Vida. 40 Días por la Vida, una parte regular de nuestro programa cuaresmal anual, es la campaña nacional en la que se nos pide unirnos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en toda la Arquidiócesis de Miami en una Vigilia de Oración durante la Cuaresma, pidiendo al Señor que nos libere de la oscuridad y la muerte del aborto. Como familia parroquial, Nuestra Señora de Lourdes se ha comprometido a orar en frente del centro de aborto ubicado en 6660 SW 117 Ave cada martes de Cuaresma de 7 am a -7 pm. Nuestro Ministerio de Respeto a la Vida estará en la entrada de la iglesia con la hoja de registración para estar seguros de que tenemos todo el día cubierto. Our Lady of Lourdes in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Miami will be hosting a financial well-being workshop. Representatives from the Archdiocese as well as volunteers from SunTrust Bank will be providing information on how to maintain a family budget, managing credit card debt, saving for education, retirement planning and other important topics.
