2 Third Sunday of Easter April 19, 2015 Message from Our Pastor My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes, I am inviting you to a party! Every year we have a party to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our parish Festival a success. It s a pretty big party. We have over 400 people who volunteer each year at the Festival. You have only to look around at our Grotto, Adoration Chapel, Baptistery, El Señor de los Milagros Chapel, and Bishop Isern Hall to see what a difference they make. We might say that this year is no different but it is! Fr. Elvis has taken us to a whole new place. We will announce the final numbers at the party but I can tell you that this year was by far the best year we have ever had. From the Raffle, to the White Elephant, to the Ride Bands and all that exceptional food every aspect of the Festival was more successful than it has ever been. He invited us to believe and has given us a taste of the possibilities that lie ahead. I want to congratulate him and his entire team of 400 for a great success. You can thank them too at the party! This year we are expanding the party because we have other things to celebrate as well. The year 2015 sees my 5 th Anniversary as Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes and my 25 th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. As it turns out the party, April 25 th, will also be on the day of my 55 th Birthday. I know that I have been extremely blessed by the Lord and, that you and my ministry among and with you, are a large part of that blessing. I am so grateful to the Lord and to you my parish family. I know that you, too, are grateful for what the Lord has done for us by bringing us together under the patronage of His mother, Our Lady of Lourdes. So let us give thanks together! We will celebrate a multilingual Mass of Thanksgiving at 6:30 pm on April 25 th and the party follows Mass in the parish hall. Cada año tenemos una fiesta para agradecer a todos los que trabajaron muy duro para hacer que nuestro Festival parroquial haya sido un éxito. Es una fiesta bien grande. Tenemos más de 400 personas que trabajan como voluntarios cada año en el Festival. Usted sólo tiene que mirar a su alrededor en nuestra Gruta, la Capilla de Adoración, el Baptisterio, la Capilla del Señor de los Milagros y el Salón Obispo Isern para ver la diferencia que hacen. Podríamos decir que este año no es diferente - pero lo es! El padre Elvis nos ha llevado a un lugar completamente nuevo. Vamos a anunciar los números finales en la fiesta, pero les puedo decir que este año fue por mucho el mejor año que hemos tenido. Desde la Rifa, al Elefante Blanco, a los brazaletes de juegos y toda esa comida excepcional, en todos los aspectos el Festival tuvo más éxito que nunca. El nos invitó a creer y nos ha dado una idea de las posibilidades que tenemos por delante. Quiero felicitarle a él y a todo su equipo de más de 400 por un gran éxito. Usted puede darle las gracias también - en la fiesta! Este año estamos ampliando la fiesta porque tenemos otras cosas que celebrar también. El año 2015 apunta mi quinto aniversario como Pastor de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y mi 25 aniversario de ordenación sacerdotal. Y resulta que la fiesta, el 25 de abril, también es el día de mi 55 cumpleaños. Sé que he sido extremadamente bendecido por el Señor y que ustedes y mi ministerio junto y con ustedes son una gran parte de esa bendición. Estoy muy agradecido con el Señor y con ustedes mi familia parroquial. Sé que ustedes, también, están muy agradecidos por lo que el Señor ha hecho por nosotros al unirnos bajo el patrocinio de su Madre, Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. Así que demos gracias juntos! Vamos a celebrar una Misa Multilingüe en Acción de Gracias a las 6:30 pm el 25 de abril y la fiesta sigue después de Misa en el salón parroquial. There are too many other things to do; prayer may seem to be less productive than the other things on our agenda. The easiest thing to do is let the prayer slip away as we promise ourselves that we will get back to it as soon as we can. All of us experience these difficulties in payer. We are not alone in this. Yet we are called to pray always. The Catechism tells us that it is always possible to pray. The Catechism also reminds us that we cannot separate prayer from our discipleship. Por Que Ser Católico?
