9 Telling time between minutes *When expressing a time where the minutes are between 31 and 59, you would use the word menos and express the number of minutes before the next hour. 15 Indicating the Time of Day One way to indicate the time of day is to use the following expressions: de la mañana in the morning de la tarde in the afternoon de la noche at night Qué hora es? Identify the time in Spanish. Be sure to use one of the expressions above to include the time of day! 1. 8:20 am 2. 12:30 pm 3. 2:50 pm 4. 6:15 pm 5. 11:05 pm 6. 9:45 pm 7. 6:25 am 8. 1:00 pm Another way to indicate the precise time of day is to use the 24-hour clock: 13 Most countries of the world use the 24 hour clock especially for travel. In this system, midnight is the starting point, and is designated at 00:00. Thirty minutes after midnight would be 00:30. From midnight to 12:59 pm, the system is the same as the one used in the US. However, from 12:59 through 12 midnight, the clock continues through the next eleven hours of the 24 hour clock from 13:00 to 23:59.
