2 Visul Communiction System nd Signge for Cemetery THE PLACE Sntigo Cemetery is locted in n re outside downtown Sntigo nd is djcent to usiness nd industril re. It covers 260,000 m2. It serves mostly the medium to low socio-economic section of the popultion. THE PROBLEM Visiting the grve of reltive or friend is stressful event. If the serch to find the grve is very difficult, this dds to the stress of the visit. People re ccustomed to finding ddresses y the street nd the nme or numer of ech house, ut here it is infinitely more complex. People don't know how to get to the spot they re looking for. In generl, they do not understnd cemetery mps, ecuse they re extremely different to the "territory". It is often difficult for people to find their erings in cemetery nd follow signs to prticulr grve. THE DEVELOPMENT A review of the usul signge in shopping centers, urn highwys, etc. revels tht these re very simple nd focus on colors nd symols (highwys). In difficult or complex sitution people sk memer of security, or go to the informtion desk, or interrogte n interctive pnel. We wnt the serch for grve to e esy nd friendly for the visitor, ut not complex.
