1 Calendar Instructions (English Version) 3 years This calendar is designed to be a daily 5-minute or less English lesson for the summer. Each day there is a vocabulary word that is from the units we worked on in class to review with your child. Also, there are songs and fun activities for each month. Additionally, everyday you should have them answer the following questions: Are you happy/sad? Are you hot/cold? o I am What did you eat today? o I ate What is the weather like today: sunny/cloudy? o It is If you and your child want to do more, try singing the songs, doing the activities and asking some additional questions, such as these: What did you draw today? o I drew What did you see today? o I saw What toy did you play with today? o I played with When posing this questions to your child, what is most important is that he/she answers correctly to the question; it doesn t necesarilly mean in English. You can improve his response in English by translating his answer and having your child repeat it. One of the best ways to improve your child s language ability is to read to your child daily, in Spanish or English. Even five minutes a day will be really helpful! 2 Uso del Calendario: Instrucciones Se puede usar este calendario para practicar el inglés con tu este verano. Las actividades diarias no llevan más de cinco minutos para completarse. Cada día, hay una palabra de vocabulario basada en las unidades que hemos trabajado en clase y es importante repasar éstas con tu nin@. También, incluimos actividades y canciones suplementarias al tema. Además, cada día debe preguntar a tu nin@: Are you happy/sad? Cómo estás hoy? Feliz/triste? o I am Estoy feliz/triste What did you eat today? Qué has comido hoy? o I ate He comido What is the weather like today: sunny/cloudy? Qué tiempo hace hoy? soleado/nuboso? o It is Hoy está. Al hacerle estas preguntas a tu hij@, lo importante es que conteste correctamente, aunque no necesariamente lo haga en inglés. Podemos fomentar que conteste en inglés haciéndole repetir la respuesta. Si tú y tu niñ@ queréis practicar más, intentad cantar las canciones, hacer las actividades e incluid más preguntas, como estas: What did you draw today? Qué dibujaste hoy? o I drew Dibujé. What did you see today? qué has visto hoy? o I saw He visto What toy did you play with today? Con qué juguete has jugado hoy? o I played with He jugado con Una de las mejores maneras para aumentar la facilidad del aprendizaje de la lengua de niñ@s es leer cada día con ell@s. 3 June 2012 (Junio) Theme: Animals Tema: Animales Activity: Have your child demonstrate how an animal behaves, what sound it makes and how does it move. Actividad: Pide a tu niñ@ que imite al animal que tú le digas, cómo se mueve y qué sonido hace.. Activity: Have your child draw pictures of animals according to your description. Example: Draw a big blue kangaroo. Actividad: Deja al niñ@ dibujar animales y dale una descripción. Por ejemplo: Es un canguro grande y azul. 4 July 2012 (Julio) Theme: Parts of the Body Tema: Partes del cuerpo Activity: Everyday, ask your child to point to the body part when he or she says the new word of the day. Actividad: Cada día, tu debe señalarse la parte del cuerpo correspondiente cuando dice la palabra del día. Activity: Play a game where your child has to follow your instructions and move their body. Example: Mom says raise your right arm. Actividad: Juega con tu niñ@ y pidiéndole que siga tus instrucciones y mueve su cuerpo. Por ejemplo: Mamá dice que levantes el brazo derecho. Actividad: Indica a tu hij@ que señale una pieza de ropa que sea la de la palabra del día. Activity: Tell your child to do some of the acctions and to stop when told to, for example now, dance and stop the child should be as a statue when saying stop Actividad: haz que tu hij@ lleve a cabo las acciones que le digas, y que al decir Stop, se quede como una estátua.
