F IRST SUNDAY OF LENT F EBRUARY 22, 2015 F ROM OUR PASTORAL ASSOCIATE This God s Tender Mercy Every one of us has wounded the heart of God with our failings, whether small or great. He longs for us to come to Him for peace and healing so that we can be who He created us to be. Most of us will never commit the great sins of murder and adultery that King David did. And yet God called David a man after God s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). When confronted with his sinfulness, David immediately pleaded for God s mercy and forgiveness (Psalm 51). The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the fountain of God s abundant mercy that washes clean our heart and soul. He creates a new heart for us so that we can live with the great dignity He bestowed upon us by making us in His own image. When we avoid this great sacrament, our heart s become heavy, often without even realizing it. Our little daily sins of thoughtlessness, gossip, selfishness, etc. build up and make us less open to God speaking to us in the depth of our heart. Even the Pope goes to Confession at least once a month. Don t be embarrassed that the priest will remember your sins or be judgmental. He is the person of the Christ in the confessional just as he is at Mass. Jesus tells us: I Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest. I Myself act in your soul Open your soul in confession as you would to Me and I will fill it with My light.the greatest miracles take place (in this sacrament) and are incessantly repeated (revelation to St. Faustina). Confession and the Eucharist are intimately tied together. Confession prepares us to receive Eucharist more worthily and then reflect Christ more purely to the world around us. The grace of Confession and Reconciliation has been a huge blessing in my life. I hope and pray it will also be so for you. I DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO 22 DE FEBRERO DEL 2015 S TATIONS OF THE CROSS GRACE AND HEALING Come walk with Jesus for half an hour along the way of the cross. Look into His face that was brutally beaten out of love for you and me. Learn how precious you are to Him by meditating on the indescribable pain He endured for each one of us. Bring whatever you are suffering to the foot of the cross and unite it to Christ s suffering and receive the grace and healing to go on for yourself and your loved ones. Even if we don t receive physical healing, we will receive a deeper healing of our heart and soul. Have confidence that Jesus loves you dearly and walks with you on your path of suffering even when you can t see or feel Him. STATIONS OF THE CROSS Fridays at 7:00pm during Lent Resurrection School Night Friday, March 20 Come bring the whole family to pray together and see the children lead the Stations. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18 GRACIA Y LA SANIDAD Venga a caminar con Jesús durante media hora a lo largo del camino de la cruz.
