From the Pastor s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters: Del escritorio del Pastor Queridos hermanos y hermanas: 4th Sunday Ordinary Time In the Gospel of this fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time, we have the great Sermon on the Mount that begins with the Bea tudes. Bea tudes are a declara on of blessedness or happy a tudes. Jesus iden fies nine groups of people who will receive divine blessings such as the poor, the mourning and the meek. Jesus mission was to bring people under the rule of God. God rules with different standards. In the secular world the above categories of values may not find many takers, but under the rule of God the sacrifices we make do not go unno- ced. The Bea tudes are a programme for life. They summarize what Chris an life is. It takes effort and discipline in life to live by them. What are benchmarks for our happiness? Can we make ourselves poor in spirit or meek or peacemakers so that God can sa sfy us? Fr. Las Bienaventuranzas son una declaración de bendiciones o ac tudes felices. Las leyes de Dios con diferentes estándares. Las Bienaventuranzas son un programa de vida. Resumen lo que es la vida cris- ana. Se necesita esfuerzo y disciplina en la vida para vivir de acuerdo a ellas.
