Volunteering Matters: Light-up our World Welcome to the weekly update. Volunteering is universal and changes lives every day. Between now and 5 December, UNV wants to showcase the power of volunteer action by collecting a volunteering photo from every country in the world. Week one, 31 October 5 November: Why does volunteering matter to you? In response to this question volunteers from around the world sent in more than 200 photos, which lit-up 64 countries. But 134 countries are yet to go bright. If your country is still grey, it s time to dust off your cameras and show the world why volunteering matters. If your country has lit-up, now s the time to make it grow even brighter by sending more photos in response to this week s question, which is online now: http://volunteeringmatters.unv.org Ecuador was the first country to light-up with a photo showing a UN Volunteer advocating for poverty reduction to a rock group at a fair in Quito congratulations Ecuador! And congratulations also to all of you who participated this week. It was inspiring to receive so many photos from so many different places. Here are some of the highlights:

Honduras: En Honduras, un voluntario aplica un tratamiento dental a un niño de la comunidad de Hisopo en el departamento de Francisco Morazan. La actividad forma parte del proyecto de la organización benéfica Solidaridad. But it is also true that a sharp caption can be the perfect companion and together (photo and caption) they can simply say it all. In your caption, tell us: what is happening in your photo; who is pictured; where and when it was taken; and most importantly, how it links to or why is it relevant to volunteerism. El Voluntariado Sí Importa: ilumina nuestro mundo Bienvenido a nuestro boletín de noticias semanal. El voluntariado es universal y tiene la capacidad de cambiar vidas. Desde ahora hasta el 5 de diciembre el programa VNU se ha propuesto recopilar fotos de acción voluntaria de todos los países, y así mostrar la variedad y el impacto del voluntariado. Semana 1- del 31 de octubre al 5 de noviembre: Por qué es importante para ti el voluntariado? En respuesta a esta pregunta, recibimos más de 200 fotografías y se iluminaron en nuestro mapa virtual 64 países. Todavía falta que 134 países se iluminen. Si tu país sigue apareciendo gris, es hora de desempolvar tu cámara de fotos y mostrarle al mundo por qué te importa el voluntariado. Si tu país sí se ha iluminado, haz que se ilumine con más intensidad enviando otra foto en respuesta a la pregunta de esta semana que encontrarás también en nuestra página: volunteeringmatters.unv.org. Esta semana Ecuador fue el primer país iluminado gracias a una foto en la que un Voluntario de la ONU sensibiliza sobre la necesidad de erradicar la pobreza a un grupo de roqueros en una feria en Quito. Felicidades Ecuador! Y felicitamos también a todos los que habéis participado. Ha sido emocionante recibir fotografías y testimonios de todos los rincones del mundo. Aquí destacamos algunas de las mejores fotografías recibidas: Consejo de la semana: Es cierto, una foto dice más que mil palabras. Pero también es verdad que un pie de foto bien redactado puede ser el acompañante perfecto y, juntos, pueden llegar a decirlo todo. En tu pie de foto cuéntanos: qué está sucediendo en la foto, quién sale en ella, dónde y cuándo fue tomada y, lo más importante, cómo se relaciona la foto con el voluntariado. Acerca de: El Voluntariado Sí Importa Con motivo de la celebración del Día International del Voluntariado (DIV) el 5 de diciembre queremos mostrarle al mundo por qué el voluntariado sí importa. Ese mismo día el décimo aniversario del Año Internacional de los Voluntarios culminará con una reunión de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas dedicada al voluntariado, y con el lanzamiento del primer Informe del programa VNU sobre el estado del voluntariado en el mundo. Desde ahora hasta el DIV, queremos recopilar por lo menos un ejemplo de acción voluntaria de cada país. Le volontariat est universel et peut changer des vies tous les jours. D ici jusqu au 5 décembre le programme VNU veut rassembler des photographies d actions de volontaires de tous les pays, et ainsi mettre en avant la puissance du volontariat. Semaine 1 : du 30 octobre au 5 novembre : Pourquoi pensez-vous que le volontariat, c est important? En réponse à cette question, nous avons reçu plus de 200 photos et 64 pays se sont illuminés sur notre carte du monde virtuelle. Mais 134 pays doivent encore s illuminer. Si votre pays est encore gris, il est temps de dépoussiérer votre appareil photo et de montrer au monde que le volontariat, c est important. Si votre pays est illuminé, faites le briller davantage en envoyant des photos supplémentaires qui répondent à la question que nous posons cette semaine et que vous pouvez aussi trouver sur notre site web : volunteeringmatters.unv.org. Le premier pays illuminé cette semaine a été l Équateur grâce a une photo sur laquelle un Volontaire de l ONU sensibilise un groupe de rockers, dans une foire de Quito, sur la nécessité d éradiquer la pauvreté. Félicitations à l Équateur! Et félicitations aussi à tous ceux qui ont participé. Nous nous réjouissons d avoir reçu des photos et des témoignages des quatre coins du monde. Nous présentons ici quelques-unes des meilleures photos reçues : Conseil pour cette semaine : Certes, une image vaut mille mots. Mais il est également vrai qu une bonne légende peut être le partenaire idéal et, qu ensemble (photo et légende), ils peuvent tout dire. Dans votre légende dites-nous : ce qui se passe dans la photo, qui apparaît, où et quand elle a été prise et, surtout, quel est le lien avec le volontariat. le 5 décembre en montrant au monde que le volontariat, c est important. Ce même jour, le dixième anniversaire de l'année internationale des Volontaires connaîtra son point culminant lors de l'assemblée générale des Nations Unies qui consacrera une séance au volontariat. Le programme VNU lancera également le tout premier Rapport sur la situation du volontariat dans le monde.. Entre aujourd hui et la JIV, nous voulons obtenir au moins un exemple d action de volontariat provenant de chaque pays du monde. Si vous êtes un Volontaire de l ONU, un volontaire des Nations Unies en ligne ou bien un volontaire d une autre organisation, aidez-nous à illuminer notre monde.
