2 I am impressed by your diligence, generosity and sincerity to help build a good future for our children and youth. I still have not understood the whole going in the auction but I really enjoyed that evening. It was a lot of fun seeing all of you who were present did enjoy our time together. I am also positive that all those who chose to stay at home or elsewhere thought about us and morally and spiritually supported us. I personally felt your support as your powerful prayers made our Un Futuro Glorioso a success. I give my special thanks to Sadie and Cynthia for being this year s coordinators and all the people who had your back. Also special thanks goes to Dave Pautsch for doing an awesome job. But you owe us recognition for getting trained to be professional auctioneer! To all of you, my sincerest for your hard work, donations and prayers! We will see each other again next year for another wonderful time together. Let us continue to pray for married couples around the whole world. Let us especially pray for couples who are experiencing tough times. Let us also pray more for couples of our parish for perseverance in their marriage commitment. As part of our 130 years celebration, we will be hosting a series of seminar-workshops for married couples. I would like to personally invite all of you to find time to attend this series of seminars. More information will be put out soon. This weekend is our commitment Sunday for the Archbishop s Catholic Appeal. I thank you in advance for your usual support in this drive. O0o Ash Wednesday is February 18. Lent starts that day. This is a period where we are enjoined to pray, fast and do charitable works. The following are some guidelines I lifted from the Archdiocese s Chancellor to help us in our Lenten observance. Fasting and Abstinence. All Catholics 14 years and older must abstain from meat on the Fridays of Lent, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. All Catholics between ages 18 and 59 are to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. To fast means to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken for good health but together they should not equal a full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted; however, liquids including coffee, milk and fruit juices are allowed. Sacrament of Reconciliation. The faithful should celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent; ideally, before the Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) begins. Our parish will provide opportunities for you to receive the sacrament. The schedule for confessions during Lent will be posted on our bulletin and website. Please be guided accordingly. Sigamos orando por todas las parejas casadas alrededor de todo el mundo. Oremos especialmente por las parejas que están pasando por tiempos difíciles. Oremos también por las parejas de nuestra parroquia para que tengan la perseverancia en su compromiso matrimonial. Como parte de nuestro 130 años de celebración, tendremos una serie de talleres especialmente habrá una para parejas casadas. Me gustaría invitar personalmente a todos ustedes para que tengan y hagan tiempo para asistir a esta serie de talleres. Más adelante les daremos mas información. Este fin de semana es nuestro Domingo de compromiso para la Colecta Católica del Arzobispo. Os doy las gracias de antemano por su apoyo habitual en esta unidad. El 18 de febrero es Miércoles de Ceniza y se inicia la Cuaresma ese día. Se trata de un periodo en el que estamos obligados a orar, ayunar y hacer obras de caridad. Lo siguientes son algunas pautas del canciller de la Arquidiócesis para ayudarnos en nuestra celebración de Cuaresma. El ayuno y la abstinencia. Todos los católicos mayores de 14 años deben abstenerse de comer carne los viernes de Cuaresma, el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo. Todos los católicos entre las edades de 18 y 59 a ayunar el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo. Ayunar significa comer una comida completa. Dos comidas más pequeñas también es buena la salud pero juntas no deben igualar una comida completa. Comer entre comidas no está permitido; Sin embargo, los líquidos como jugos, café, leche y frutas están permitidos. El Sacramento de la Reconciliación. Los fieles deben de acercarse al Sacramento de la Reconciliación durante la Cuaresma; idealmente, antes del Triduo que es antes de (Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo, y sábado de gloria). Nuestra parroquia ofrecerá oportunidades para que usted reciba el sacramento de reconciliación. El horario para las confesiones durante la Cuaresma estarán en nuestro boletín y página web. Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Ash Wednesday - February 18 "Come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament this Lent and beg for more grace to give your heart, mind and strength to Him. Receive His sacred Body and precious Blood more frequently at Mass Seek Him in adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Seek His forgiveness for your sins in the confessional. In this way you will indeed heed His call to follow Him." (Fr. The Catholic Daughters will be having a bake sale this weekend of February Please help if you can with your support by purchasing some of our best homemade goodies. The proceeds will go to the church to help fix the sound system so Fr. Cit will not have such a hard time being heard when he is speaking at Mass. Albany Helping Hands would like to thank all that purchased from any of the four tree lot locations during the holiday season. John Donovan, Development Director for Albany Helping Hands stated This year s tree lot income increase was in part due to additional wreath sales by Albany Christian School students and the youth group at St. Mary s Parish where youth participated in a special pilot project, Wreath-4-Kids, where net sales were split with the participating youth organizations..the Albany Helping Hands also operates the Thrift Store, Garden Farm & Market which includes the new Chicken Farm, the Keep Warm Wood Lot, and the Estate Cleanup unit. The fifteen year organization provides twenty four hour, seven day per week, emergency shelter and food for the homeless. Celebrate God s Gift of Forgiveness!!!
