To cacel the extra bass mode, press the EXTRA BASS butto o the remote cotrol. It is a acroym which stads for MPEG Audio Layer 3. MP3 is a type of audio code which is processed by sigificat compressio from the origial audio source with very little loss i soud quality. l This system supports MPEG 1 Layer 3 ad VBR files. l Durig VBR file playback, time couter i the display may differ from its actual playback time. l Bitrate which is supported by MP3 is 32 kbps to 320 kbps. WMA: WMA files are Advaced System Format files that iclude audio files which are compressed with Widows Media Audio codec. WMA is developed by Microsoft as a audio format file for Widows Media Player. l MP3 ad WMA idicator will light up after the uit reads iformatio o a MP3 or WMA disc. l Bitrate which is supported by WMA is 64 kbps to 160 kbps. 5 Press the butto to close the disc tray. 6 Press the / (CD/ / ) butto to start playback. Follow the istructios from the website o how to dowload the music files. You ca the play back these dowloaded music files by burig them to a CD-R/RW disc. l Your dowloaded sog/files are for persoal use oly. Ay other usage of the sog without ower s permissio, is agaist the law. About folder playback order If MP3/WMA files are recorded i several folders, a folder umber will be set to each folder automatically. These folders ca be selected by the FOLDER butto o the remote cotrol. If there is o supported file formats iside the selected folder, the folder is skipped ad the ext folder will be selected. Example: How to set folder umber if MP3/WMA format files are recorded as below figure. 1 ROOT folder is set as folder 1. 2 As for folders iside ROOT folder (Folder A ad Folder B), the folder which is recorded earlier o the disc will be set as folder 2 ad folder 3. 3 As for folder iside Folder A (Folder C ad Folder D), the folder which is recorded earlier o the disc will be set as folder 4 ad folder 5. 4 Folder E that is iside Folder D will be set as folder 6. l The folder ad file order iformatio which is recorded o the disc depeds o the writig software. To receive a FM stereo trasmissio: l Press the TUNER (BAND) butto to select stereo mode ad ST idicator will be displayed. ad will appear whe a FM broadcast is i stereo. l If the FM receptio is weak, press the TUNER (BAND) butto to extiguish the ST idicator. The receptio chages to moaural, ad the soud becomes clearer. 3 Withi 30 secods, press the PRESET ( or ) butto to select the preset chael umber. Store the statios i memory, i order, startig with preset chael 1. 4 Withi 30 secods, press the MEMORY butto to store that statio i memory. If the MEMORY ad preset umber idicators disappear before the statio is memorised, repeat the operatio from step 2. 5 Repeat steps 1-4 to set other statios, or to chage a preset statio. Whe a ew statio is stored i the memory, the statio previously memorised for that preset chael umber will be erased. Note: The backup fuctio protects the memorised statios for a few hours should there be a power failure or the AC power lead become discoected. 18 Usig the Radio Data System (RDS) RDS is a broadcastig service which a growig umber of FM statios provide. These FM statios sed additioal sigals alog with their regular programme sigals. They sed their statio ames, ad iformatio about the type of programme such as sport, music, etc. Whe tued to a RDS statio, RDS ad the statio ame will be displayed. TP (Traffic Programme) will appear o the display whe the received broadcast carries traffic iformatio, ad TA (Traffic Aoucemet) will appear whilst a traffic iformatio is o air. PTYI (Dyamic PTY Idicator) will appear whilst the Dyamic PTY statio is received. Usig the Auto Statio Programme Memory (ASPM) Whilst i the ASPM operatio mode, the tuer will automatically search for ew RDS statios. Up to 40 statios ca be stored. If you have already stored some statios i memory, the umber of ew statios you ca store will be less. 1 Press the TUNER (BAND) butto o the remote cotrol or butto repeatedly o the mai uit to select TUNER fuctio. 2 Press ad hold dow the RDS ASPM butto o the remote cotrol. 1 After ASPM has flashed for about 4 secods, scaig will start ( MHz). You ca cotrol the RDS by usig the buttos o the remote cotrol oly. Iformatio provided by RDS Each time the RDS DISPLAY butto is pressed, the display will switch as follows: 2 Whe a RDS statio is foud, RDS will appear for a short time ad the statio will be stored i memory. 3 After scaig, the umber of statios stored i memory will be displayed for 4 secods, ad the END will appear for 4 secods. To stop the ASPM operatio before it is complete: Press the RDS ASPM butto whilst it is scaig for statios. The statios which are already stored i memory will be kept there. Statio ame (PS) Programme type (PTY) Frequecy Radio text (RT) Whe tuig i to a statio other tha a RDS statio or to a RDS statio which seds weak sigal, the display will chage i the followig order: Notes: l If the same statio is broadcastig o differet frequecies, the strogest frequecy will be stored i memory. l Ay statio which has the same frequecy as the oe stored i memory will ot be stored. l If 40 statios have already bee stored i memory, the sca will be aborted. If you wat to redo the ASPM operatio, erase the preset memory. l If o statio have bee stored i memory, END will appear for about 4 secods. l If the RDS sigals are very weak, statio ames may ot be stored i memory. l The same statio ame ca be stored i differet chaels. l I a certai area or durig certai time periods, the statio ames may temporarily be differet. Notes for radio text: l The first 14 characters of the radio text will appear for 4 secods ad the they will scroll across the display. l If you tue i to a RDS statio which is ot broadcastig ay radio text, No RT will be displayed whe you switch to the radio text positio. l Whilst radio text data is received or whe the text cotets chage, RT will be displayed. To specify programmed types ad select statios (PTY search): You ca search a statio by specifyig the programme type (ews, sports, traffic programme, etc.... see page 20) from the statios i memory. 1 Press the TUNER (BAND) butto o the remote cotrol or butto repeatedly o the mai uit to select TUNER fuctio. 2 Press the RDS PTY butto o the remote cotrol. SELECT ad PTY TI will appear alterately for about 6 secods. 3 Withi 6 secods, press the or butto to select the programme type. Each time the butto is pressed, the programme type will appear. If the butto is held dow for more tha 0.5 secods, the programme type will appear cotiuously. 4 Whilst the selected programme type is flashig (withi 6 secods), press the RDS PTY butto agai. After the selected programme type has bee lit for 2 secods, SEARCH will appear, ad the search operatio will start. Notes: l If the display has stopped flashig, start agai from step 2. If the uit fids a desired programme type, the correspodig chael umber will lit for about 8 secods, ad the the statio ame will remai it. l If you wat to liste to the same programme type of aother statio, press the RDS PTY butto whilst the chael umber or statio ame is flashig. The uit will look for the ext statio. l If o statio ca be foud, NOT FOUND will appear for 4 secods.
