Parents must register the child at the Rectory at least one month in advance. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Saturdays at 4:30 pm (English) & 6:30 pm (Spanish) Anytime in the Rectory by request. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Couples should make appointment with a priest at least six months before the wedding date. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK Please inform a priest whenever anyone is seriously ill. In case of emergency, the Rectory should be called at any time. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION All children after the age of five should be registered by their parents into our Religious Education Program which begins every year in September. HAITI RELEAF FUNDS We thank all the people who have continued to donate to the Haiti Relief Fund in our parish. Donations will be accepted today as well. A reminder that all Sponsors for the Sacrament of Confirmation must fulfill the Church s Requirements: 1) Be sufficiently mature, responsible & faith-filled male or female, currently 18 years of age or older, 2) Be a Catholic who has received the three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Communion & Confirmation & attends Church regularly, 3) If married, married in the Catholic Church, if single, living according to Catholic moral principles 4) May not be the candidate s mother, father or guardian CONFIRMATION S RETREAT The Confirmation Retreat is scheduled for the weekend of March 12, 13 & 14. The Retreat is mandatory for all Confirmation Candidates. Retreat application will be distributed in class and be filled out and signed by parents or guardians.

January 31, 2010 Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time STRENGTH AGAINST OPPOSITION In appointing Jeremiah to stand up to the people and announce the truth, God at the same time promised him the strength to do the job. They will fight against you but not prevail over you, for I am with you (Jeremiah 1:19). Jesus also faced opposition, right from the start. In his home town of Nazareth the people couldn t accept the idea that someone from among their own could be God s messenger. [F]illed with fury, they expelled Jesus from town and would have hurled him over the edge of the hill. But Jesus passed through the midst of them and went away (Luke 4:28, 30). Although the true prophet has strength from God, Saint Paul says there s something even more important than suffering death for the sake of God s word. 4 31 de enero de 2010 Cuarto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario FORTALEZA ANTE LA OPOSICIÓN Al apuntar a Jeremías para que se enfrente a la gente y anuncie la verdad, Dios le prometió al mismo tiempo que tendría la fortaleza para cumplir su cometido. Te harán la guerra, pero no podrán contigo, porque yo estoy a tu lado para salvarte (Jeremías 1:19). Jesús también se enfrentó a la oposición, desde el principio. En su pueblo natal de Nazaret la gente no podía aceptar la idea de que alguno de los suyos pudiera ser el mensajero de Dios: Se llenaron de ira, expulsaron a Jesús del pueblo y por poco lo desbarrancan, despeñándolo. Pero él, pasando por en medio de ellos, se alejó de allí (Lucas 4: 28, 30). Aunque el verdadero profeta es fortalecido por Dios, san Pablo dice que hay algo más importante que sufrir la muerte por la palabra de Dios pues aunque me dejara quemar vivo, si no tengo amor, de nada me sirve (1 Corintios 13:3).
