Gracias por su generosidad FATHER S DAY NOVENA Father s Day is on Sunday, June 20 th. A Novena of Masses will be offered for all our fathers, living and deceased, beginning on Father s Day. If you wish us to include your father on this novena, please add his name to a Father s Day Envelope and return it to us as soon as possible. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for nine days for all fathers whose names are on the Altar and will continued to be remembered for the entire month of June. Thank you!! Our Lady of Mercy Bronx, New York CORPUS CHRISTI: 40 HOURS ADORATION & PRAYERS FOR PRIESTS The Solemnity of Corpus Christi is celebrated this year on June 6 th. As last year we will have once again the 40 hours Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning on Friday, June 4 th and concluding on Sunday, June 6 th. Since the Year of the Priest that began last year concludes in June, we would like to pray in special way for priests, and, of course, also for all our needs. FILIPINO (TAGALOG) MASS Next Sunday, June 6 th, our Filipino Mass will be celebrated at 7:45 am, followed by breakfast in the prayer hall. All are invited! FEAST OF ST. ANTHONY A Novena to St. Anthony will be prayed every day beginning Saturday, June 5, after Masses. On St. Anthony s Feast, June 13 th, medals and bread will be distributed after Masses. Our Lady of Perpetual Help The Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Patroness of the Philippines, will be celebrated on Saturday, June 26th, at the 5:15 pm Mass, followed by reception after the Mass in the Prayer Hall. A novena to the Perpetual Help will begin prayed every day nine days before after the 5:15 pm Mass. Parish Picnic Our annual parish picnic for volunteers and those who serve in different ministries in our parish will take place on Saturday, June 19 from 11 am to 5 pm on the backyard of the School! Please come and enjoy some B.B.Q! In honor of all fathers! 2010 STEWARDSHIP APPEAL FINAL STAGE We are coming to the final stage of the 2010 Stewardship Appeal in the Archdioceses of New York. We want to encourage those who have not made their commitment to do so as soon as possible. Our parish goal this year is $14,500. So far $11,842 has been pledged to the Appeal and $7,362 has been paid. With your help we can reach our goal once again. Thank you so much! 3 The Parish School of Our Lady of Mercy is accepting registration for all grades (pre-k to 8 th ). For more info., or registration, please call at or stop by the office, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm. Thank you! SUMMER MISSION A group of adults and young people from our parish will be going on a mission of good will to Dominican Republic in the month of July. The Mission consists of Evangelization in poor communities, service to the poor, especially the children. We are also sponsoring a house for orphans children, named the Home of Our Lady of Providence. We are in the process of collecting items such as schools supplies, food, new toys and clothing, or cash to defray the cost of the Mission. A letter is available for your own use, friends, family or co-workers. Thank you for all your help! OLM YOUTH GROUP All youth of the parish are welcomed to the Youth Group s weekly meeting on Tuesday, from 7;30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Prayer Hall next to the Chapel in the Rectory. The Youth pray the Rosary, learn about the faith and grow in friendship. COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR THE YOUTH If you would like to give an hour or more of your free time in helping out in the parish during the summer, please Fr. Rodriguez know. Thank you! WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011 IN MADRID The World Youth Day Festival will take place next year 2011 with Pope Benedict XVI in Madrid, Spain. It is our hope to take a group of young people to this world wide Catholic Event. May 30, 2010 The Most Holy Trinity PRAISE TO THE CREATOR The first reading, from Proverbs, is a beautiful doxology of the glory of Christ, who existed before all of creation. Christ is the Wisdom of God spoken of in the verse: from of old I was poured forth, / at the first, before the earth (Proverbs 8:23). Christ is described in terms of preexistence, of knowledge and wisdom of God, as the Child of God in whom the Creator delights, playing on the earth and delighting in the human race. Psalm 8 continues this hymn of praise to the Creator, enumerating all the wonders of creation, and marveling at the wonderful truth that God has put humanity at the forefront of it all, making us a little less than angels, crowned with glory and honor (Psalm 8:6). 4 30 de mayo de 2010 La Santísima Trinidad ALABANZAS AL CREADOR La primera lectura, tomada de Proverbios, es una hermosa doxología de la gloria de Cristo, quien existe desde antes de toda la creación. Cristo es la Sabiduría de Dios de la que se habla en el versículo: establecida desde la eternidad, desde el principio, antes de que la tierra existiera (Proverbios 8: 23). Cristo es descrito en términos de pre-existencia, de conocimiento y sabiduría de Dios, como el Hijo de Dios en quien el Creador se deleita, jugando con la tierra y deleitando a la raza humana. El Salmo 8 continua este himno de alabanza al Creador, enumerando todas las maravillas de la creación, y admirando la maravillosa verdad de que Dios ha puesto a la humanidad por delante de todo, haciéndonos un poco menos que los ángeles, coronados de gloria y honor (Salmo 8:6). 5 ENRIQUECIMIENTO MATRIMONIAL Sábado 5 de Junio, de 9:00 am a 4 pm en nuestra escuela. Este día esta dedicado a enriquecer a las parejas ya casadas, por lo civil o por la Iglesia. El día será llevado a cabo por la Oficina de la Familia y la Vida de la Arquidiócesis de Nueva York. $20.00 para cubrir el material y el almuerzo. Fiesta de San Antonio Una novena en honor a San Antonio se rezará por nueve días comenzando el sábado 5 de Junio después de las Misas. El día de la Fiesta de San Antonio, 13 de Junio, se distribuirán medallas y pan. La Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro es la Patrona de las Filipinas. Se celebrará una Misa en su honor el Sábado 26 de Junio a las 5:15 pm en la Iglesia, seguido de un compartir en el Salón Parroquial. Una novena en su honor comenzará 9 días antes después de la Misa de 5:15 p.m. Todos están invitados! MISION DE VERANO La Mision de verano se llevara a cabo, Dios mediante, en el mes de Julio del 20 al 29 en la zona de Licey, Santiago. La Mision consiste en la Evangelizacion y visitas a los lugares pobres de aquellas comunidades, especialmente los ninos. Tambien estamos ayudando el Hogar Albergue Infantil Divina Providencia en Monte Adentro y el Comedor de Ninos, ambos a cargo de las Hnas. Marianitas. Para ello estamos recolectando utencilios escolares, ropa de ninas, y comida (arroz, leche en polvo, pasta etc.). Si quiere hacer este tipo de donaciones, ver a Bienvenida, para donaciones en efectivo ver a Ana Alicea o Ana Olivares. Muchisimas gracias! CONCIERTO PRO-FONDO MISION Domingo 20 de Junio en la Escuela parroquia a partir de la 2 pm. Tambien tenemos de venta camisetas de la Mision y un CD de musica Cristiana. Habra venta de comida. Our Lady of Mercy Bronx, New York CORPUS CHRISTI: 40 HORAS DE ADORACION La Solemnidad del Corpus Christi se celebra el 6 de junio en toda la Iglesia. Tendremos nuevamente las 40 horas de Adoración comenzando el viernes 4 hasta el domingo 5 en la Capilla. En Junio concluye el Ano Sacerdotal y queremos orar especialmente por los sacerdotes, aunque claro también por nuestras necesidades. Hay una lista ahora disponible en la puerta de la Capilla para su nombre y hora de adoración. Velad, dice el Señor! RECORDANDO A LOS PADRES El Dia de los Padres es el Domingo 20 de Junio. En este día comenzaremos una Novena de Misas por todos los padres, vivos y difuntos. Si desea incluir a su padre en esta novena de Misas, favor de tomar un sobre del Día de los Padres y escribir su nombre y devolver el sobre lo mas pronto posible. La Santa Misa se ofrecerá diariamente por nueve días por todos los padres cuyos nombres están en el Altar y serán recordado por todo el mes de Junio. Gracias! PICNIC PARROQUIAL El picnic (barbacoa) parroquial anual se llevara a cabo el Sabado 19 de Junio, para celebrar el dia de los padres y el servicio de los voluntarios y ministerios parroquiales.
