CARE OF THE SICK Please call the Parish Office to request sick calls for patients at home. St. Patrick Church has a Chaplain who visits patients at Mt. Sinai Hospital. If you or someone you know is hospitalized and would like to be visited by the Chaplain, please inform the hospital of your Catholic affiliation. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES Classes are available for children from first grade through high school age, and for Adults in English and Spanish, from September through May. 3 APRIL 6TH, 2014 PARISH NEWS This Sunday, our Emmaus Men s Group are hosting a breakfast and Garage Sale in the Parish Hall, 9am to 2pm to raise funds for their upcoming retreat on the weekend of May 16th. Please call Jose at or Adam at for more information. The second collection this weekend will be taken up to reduce our parish debt. Thank you for your participation. Our Taste of St. Joseph Festival was a huge success, the gross amount raised was $20,181.70, expenses were $8, giving us a net profit of $11, Religious Education News: Thursday, April 10th, to 9pm Parent Meeting of First Holy Communion and Confirmation students. Saturday, April 12th, Confirmation Retreat, 11am to. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Thursday, May 1st at in the Church. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, May 18th. Teachers are needed for our Tuesday program, please call Omar Rodriguez at Life in the Spirit - Charismatic Renewal Prayer Group continues on Friday, April 25th at in the Church. The Emmaus Women s Group and our Women s Club Group will be selling tickets soon for a raffle to take place on May 4th, for a Mother s Day Basket. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each Week the Archdiocese of Miami s Safe Environment Office Will offer snippets from Virtus bulletins shared in the last year. Virtus training is a child sex abuse awareness and prevention program that begins with a live training session and continues with monthly bulletins, which are required of all clergy, employees and volunteers. Sexting is the sending or receiving of sexuallyexplicit or sexually-suggestive images or video via cellphone. Instances of sexting depict a continuum of intentions, which define the legal and policy issues of the act. These include: exploring sexuality as part of the development of teens, harassment of teens by other teens, exploitation by teens in retaliation for perceived slights, manipulation of teens by adults for sexual gratification. Well defined policies and procedures are essential when effectively dealing with sexting. Become a member of the Archbishop Coleman Carroll Legacy Society at the Second Annual Induction Ceremony on April 15th. Abstinence: For those 14 years and older all the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from Meat. Fasting: Good Friday is a day of fasting, (one full meal and two smaller ones, eating between meals is not permitted) for those between the ages of 18 & 59 years.
