Revise la receta, las cantidades de fórmula, los materiales y la factura a nombre de su niño. Si todo está correcto, acepte el pedido colocando su firma y fecha en la factura. 2 Uso de la bomba Infinity Orange para alimentación enteral Preparación de la bolsa y la sonda 1. Lávese las manos y prepare los materiales. 2. Llene la bolsa con la fórmula. 3. Quite la tapa de la punta de la sonda. 4. Voltee la bolsa y apóyela sobre la tapa, boca abajo. Apretando con una mano, evacue el aire y la fórmula de la bolsa para que llenen la sonda. 5. Busque el dibujo de la gota en la sonda anaranjada y oprímala ligeramente para abrir la válvula. Si lo hace con mucha fuerza se cerrará. Oprima la gota y la bolsa del alimento al mismo tiempo para que la fórmula llene toda la sonda purgando el aire. Si quedan burbujas grandes (de 2 pulgadas o más) continúe el procedimiento hasta eliminarlas. La fórmula que se escape de la sonda se puede recoger en un envase y guardarla en el refrigerador. Cómo configurar y poner en marcha la bomba 1. Inserte el casete en la bomba. 2. Cierre la tapa de la bomba. 3. Prenda la bomba. 4. Seleccione el tipo de alimento: leche materna o fórmula. También lo puede hacer después de seleccionar la velocidad y la dosis. 5. Presione el botón RATE/DOSE (velocidad /volumen) para configurar la función RATE, seleccione la velocidad. 6. Presione el botón RATE/DOSE para configurar la función DOSE, seleccione la dosis. 7. Antes de cada uso seleccione el tipo de alimento, confirme la velocidad y también la dosis. 8. Presione el botón VOL/TOTAL. Ahora presione CLEAR. 9. Conecte el adaptador enteral en punta al tubo para la alimentación enteral de su niño. 10. Presione el botón RUN/PAUSE para comenzar la alimentación. Mantenimiento de la bomba 1. Para cargar la pila, inserte completamente el lado ondulado del adaptador que coincide con el lado ondulado del portal de conexión de la bomba (se prende una luz verde en el cargador). 2. En el hogar, mantenga la bomba enchufada todo el tiempo. 3. La batería completamente cargada dura aproximadamente 24 horas; cada barra sólida indica 6 horas de carga. 4. (Cada barra = 6 horas) NO FOOD (Sin alimento) PUSH RUN TO FEED (presione RUN para continuar la alimentación) ERRA-ERRZ ER01-ER99 La bomba detecta aire en la sonda. Asegúrese de que la bolsa tenga leche y que la sonda esté libre de pliegues. Si la leche tiene mucha espuma, espere unos 10 minutos antes de echarla en la bolsa. 5 Patient and Family Education Using an Infinity Orange Pump to Feed Your Child Receiving formula and supplies When you receive a shipment, make sure you have the correct formula and supplies. Check the prescription, quantity of formula and supplies and invoice for your child s name. If all is correct, sign/date the invoice to accept the delivery. It is important to keep the yellow copy for future references. We are unable to take back any supplies once they are in your home. 6 Using an Infinity Orange Pump to Feed Your Child Setting up the bag and attached tubing 1. Wash hands. Set out supplies. 2. Put the formula in the bag. 3. Take the cap off the end of the tubing. 4. Turn the feeding bag upside down and set it on its lid. Wrap a hand around the bag close to the lid. Squeeze the formula and air up to where the bag empties into the tubing. 5. Find the water drop picture on the orange-colored tubing. Gently press the water drop, opening the valve. Pressing too tight will pinch it shut, so apply soft pressure. Press the water drop while firmly squeezing the feeding bag. This will push air up and out of the bag, followed by formula, until no air is left in the tubing. If large air bubbles (2 inches or more) are in the tubing, keep priming until the bubbles come out. You may pour formula primed out of the tubing back into the formula pitcher and save in the refrigerator for the next feed. Air may also be removed from tubing using the prime feature on the infinity orange pump. Setting up the pump and starting the feed 1. Put the cassette into the pump. 2. Close the pump door. 3. Turn the pump on. 4. Set the food type to human milk or formula. This step can also be done after setting the rate and dose. 5. Press the RATE/DOSE key to change to the RATE mode set the rate. 6. Press the RATE/DOSE key to change to the DOSE mode set the dose. 7. Prior to every feed, set the food type, confirm the rate, and confirm the dose. 8. Press the VOL/TOTAL key. Then, press CLEAR. 9. Connect the barbed adapter to your child s enteral feeding tube. 10. Press the RUN/PAUSE key to start the feed. Pump maintenance 1. When charging the battery, connect the adapter so the waved side of the adapter matches the waved side of the pump portal and fully insert (charger light will be green). 2. Keep the pump plugged into the outlet at all times when home. 3. A fully charged battery will last approximately 24 hours. Each solid bar indicates 6 hours of charge. 4. Before cleaning the pump, make sure it is not plugged in to avoid electrical shock. 2 of 4

7 Using an Infinity Orange Pump to Feed Your Child 5. Rinse the pump under running tap water with the charging portal side down. Do not submerge pump in water. 6. You may also use a dampened Q-tip, soft cloth, or non-abrasive sponge to clean the sensors. 7. Dry the pump after cleaning. Troubleshooting chart Alarm type NO FLOW IN NO FLOW OUT LOW BATT What to do This alarm detects a blockage in the tubing between the bag and pump. Check for any bends in tubing. Take out the cassette and reload. If this does not help, clean the sensor area. If the alarm continues, contact Home Care Services. This alarm detects a blockage in the tubing between the pump and the patient. Check for any bends in tubing. Flush the feeding tube with water. Turn off the pump and reload the cassette. If this does not help, change the bag and clean the sensor area. If the alarm continues, contact Home Care Services. Charge the battery. (Each bar = 6 hours) NO FOOD PUSH RUN TO FEED ERRA-ERRZ ER01-ER99 The pump is detecting air in the tubing. Make sure there is formula in the bag and there are no kinks in the tubing. If the formula is foamy, let it sit for 10 minutes before pouring into the bag. The pump has been in the Pause mode for more than 2 minutes. Press RUN to continue feeds. The initial self test has failed. Read error message, then turn the pump off and on again. If this continues, call Home Care Services. Turn the pump off and re-start. Check all of the settings. If error continues, call Home Care Services. 3 of 4

Always keep an extra 3 to 5 days of formula and supplies, and 1 dose of medication on hand in case of emergency. In the hospital, ask your child s nurse. From outside the hospital, call the toll-free Family Interpreting Line Tell the interpreter the name or extension you need. Seattle Children s offers interpreter services for Deaf, hard of hearing or non-english speaking patients, family members and legal representatives free of charge.
