The orientation session is an evening designed to inform you of the procedures and requirements for getting married in the Catholic Church, and to discuss the Marriage Preparation Program at Saint William. Marriage Preparation Classes Starting August 2 Together in God s Love is a four-part marriage preparation series that presents an overview of the Church s teachings on the sacrament of marriage and how these teachings impact the practical ways in which we live out our marriage. In four consecutive weekly sessions, couples will explore four key aspects of the marital relationship faith, communication, sexuality, and stewardship all presented in the context of a sacramental view of marriage. Each session will include both group and couple prayer experiences, presentations on Church teachings, and opportunities for reflection and discussion. This fall, over 2,200 children and young people, preschool through grade 12, will sign up to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith. You can help them learn and grow in faith by becoming a catechist for Religious Education. With classes offered Sunday afternoons and evenings, Monday afternoons and evenings AND Wednesday evenings, you are almost sure to find a time that fits your schedule. As you nurture the faith of our young people, you will learn and grow as well! A first year catechist said, I was nervous and wasn t sure how things were going to go but with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the children were excited to learn about the faith! We provide you with training, materials, and support. RE classes begin September 9th. 6 NEWS IN OUR PARISH/ NOTICIAS EN NUESTRA PARROQUIA Welcome Fr. Uche A Short Interview with Fr. Uche Andeh Thank you to everyone who attended the weekend receptions to welcome Saint William s newly ordained Associate Pastor, Father Uchechukwu ( Uche ) Andeh, as he begins what will be an exciting, challenging, and fulfilling life as a Catholic priest. Fr. Uche was ordained on June 9 and arrived at Saint William on July 6. I was excited and happy to learn that I would be ministering to the people of Saint William, not only since I had already become acquainted with Fr. Dean, Fr. Jonathan, and Msgr. Louis in the past, but also because I would be a part of such a large and vibrant parish that will challenge me, commented Fr. Uche. This is nothing short of providential. Fr. Uche was raised in a large, urban parish, in Southeast Nigeria, and is excited to bring his distinct cultural background to the service of the faith and the parishioners of Saint William. I believe that growing up in a large parish in South East Nigeria has provided me a great perspective of the catholicity, or universality, of not only the Catholic Church as a whole, but of the unified diversity which embodies Saint William in particular, added Fr. Uche. As a young Catholic with dreams of becoming a priest, Fr. Uche always held a strong and enduring devotion to Our Lady close to his heart as his protection and guide. St. John Vianney, along with Bl. John Henry Newman and Bl. Pope John Paul II, became his patron saints at a very young age. He also holds devotions to St. Augustine and St. Anthony of Padua (given by his grandparents), I strive to keep a devout prayer life, commented Fr. Uche. I also believe in preserving a sense of community with my brother priests. It provides the strength, support, and peace that I need, despite whatever challenges I may face in my ministry. With the grace of God behind him and before him, Fr. Uche Andeh is charged with great hopes and dreams for the community of Saint William. I am looking forward to celebrating good, beautiful liturgy with the people. I am excited to have the opportunity to worship in such an awe-inspiring sanctuary, commented Fr. Uche. I am excited to be here and minister to everyone at Saint William, especially during the approaching Year of Faith. With the support of an outstanding parish staff and alongside three other resident priests at Saint William added Fr. Uche, I am eager for the opportunities to fulfill more of the sacramental and spiritual needs of the people. The first Mass Fr. Uche celebrated upon arriving at Saint William was in Spanish, which proves just how eager he is to work with and cultivate the Hispanic ministries of the parish. I am devoted, determined, and committed to learning the Spanish language, celebrating the sacraments in Spanish, and I look forward to experiencing more of the culture, Fr. Uche commented, and I love the food! It is indeed a great time to be a part of the Saint William community as we are enthusiastic to see the new dynamic unity of our priests, working together, as stewards of the sacred mysteries and proclaimers of the gospel message. Fr. Uche sincerely believes that, it s an exciting time for the Church and it s a blessing to be a part of it here, at Saint William. Did you know? When Fr. Uche is not engaged in arduous ora et labora, he attempts to make time for recreation such as running, cooking, reading, and playing soccer. Uche Andeh Gracias a todos que asistieron las recepciones para darle la bienvenida a nuestro nuevo ordenado, Vicario Parroquial, Padre Uchechukwu ("Uche") Andeh, que empieza lo que será un desafío, emocionante, y vida satisfactoria como un sacerdote Católico. Fr. Uche fue ordenado el 9 de junio y llego a Saint William el 6 de julio. "Estaba emocionado y feliz cuando aprendí que estaría atendiendo a las personas de Saint William, no sólo porque antes yo ya había conocido a Fr. Dean, Fr. Jonathan, y Msgr. Louis, pero también porque sería parte de una parroquia grande y vibrante que me desafiará," comentó Fr. Uche. "Esto es nada menos que providencial". Fr. Uche creció en una parroquia grande y urbana, en Nigeria del sudeste, y esta emocionado en traer su distinto fondo cultural al servicio de la fe y los parroquianos de Saint William. "Creo que haber crecido en una parroquia grande en Nigeria me ha dado una gran perspectiva de la Catolicidad, o universalidad, de no sólo la Iglesia Católica en total, pero de la diversidad unificada que personifica a Saint William en particular," agregó Fr. Uche. Como un joven católico con sueños de ser un sacerdote, Fr. Uche siempre tuvo cerca a su corazón una devoción fuerte y duradera a su guía y protectora, Nuestra Señora. St. John Vianney, y Bl. John Henry Newman y Bl. Papa John Paul II, llegó a ser sus patronos en una edad muy joven. Tambien mantiene devoción a St. Agustín y St. Anthony de Padua (dado por sus abuelos). "Me esfuerzo por mantener una devota vida de oración," comentó Fr. Uche. "También creo en preservar un sentido de comunidad con mis sacerdotes hermanos. Me proporciona la fuerza, apoyo, y la paz que necesito, a pesar de los desafíos que enfrentare en mi ministerio". Con la gracia de Dios detrás de él y antes de él, Fr. Uche Andeh esta encargado de las gran esperanzas y sueños de la comunidad de Saint William. "Espero celebrar buena y hermosa liturgia con la gente. Uche al llegar a Saint William fue en español. Demuestra su interés en cultivar y trabajar con los ministerios hispanos de la parroquia. "Estoy dedicado, determinado, y cometido a aprender el idioma español y celebrando los sacramentos en español. Espero experimentar mas de la cultura," comentó Fr. Uche, "y también me encanta la comida! Verdaderamente es un gran tiempo para ser parte de la comunidad de Saint William. Estamos apasionados para ver la nueva unidad dinámica de nuestros sacerdotes, trabajando juntos, como guardianes de los misterios y proclamadores sagrados del mensaje del evangelio. Fr. Uche cree sinceramente que, "es un tiempo emocionante para la Iglesia Católica Universal y es una bendición ser parte de ella aquí, en Saint Sabias? Cuando Fr. David Nugent is a member of the Missionaries of the Most Holy Eucharist, a public clerical association based in southeast France.
