The women find the tomb empty, the body of Jesus is not there, something new has happened, but all this still doesn t tell them anything certain: it raises questions; it leaves them confused, without offering an answer. And suddenly there are two men in dazzling clothes who say: Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; but has risen (Lk 24:5-6). What was a simple act, done surely out of love going to the tomb has now turned into an event, a truly life-changing event. Nothing remains as it was before. Jesus is not dead, he has risen, he is alive! He does not simply return to life; rather, he is life itself, because he is the Son of God, the living God (cf. Num 14:21-28; Deut 5:26; Josh 3:10). This is how the newness of God appears to all of us: as victory over sin, evil and death, over everything that crushes life and makes it seem less human. And this is a message meant for me and for you dear sister, for you dear brother. How often does Love have to tell us: Why do you look for the living among the dead? Our daily problems and worries can wrap us up in ourselves, in sadness and bitterness... and that is where death is. That is not the place to look for the One who is alive! Let the risen Jesus enter your life, welcome him as a friend, with trust: he is life! If up till now you have kept him at a distance, step forward. He will receive you with open arms. Homily of SS. JESUS HA RESUCITADO! Las mujeres encuentran la tumba vacía, el cuerpo de Jesús no está allí, algo nuevo ha sucedido, pero todo esto todavía no queda nada claro: suscita interrogantes, causa perplejidad, pero sin ofrecer una respuesta. Y he aquí dos hombres con vestidos resplandecientes, que dicen: «Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive? No está aquí, ha resucitado» (Lc 24,5-6). Lo que era un simple gesto, algo hecho ciertamente por amor el ir al sepulcro, ahora se transforma en acontecimiento, en un evento que cambia verdaderamente la vida. Ya nada es como antes. Jesús no está muerto, ha resucitado, es el Viviente. No es simplemente que haya vuelto a vivir, sino que es la vida misma, porque es el Hijo de Dios, que es el que vive. Así, la novedad de Dios se presenta ante todos nosotros: la victoria sobre el pecado, sobre el mal, sobre la muerte, sobre todo lo que oprime la vida. Y este es un mensaje para mí, para ti, querida hermana y querido hermano. Cuántas veces tenemos necesidad de que el Amor nos diga: Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que está vivo? Los problemas, las preocupaciones de la vida cotidiana tienden a que nos encerremos en nosotros mismos, en la tristeza, en la amargura..., y es ahí donde está la muerte. No busquemos ahí a Aquel que vive. Acepta entonces que Jesús Resucitado entre en tu vida, acógelo como amigo, con confianza: Él es la vida! The next baptism date is Saturday, April 27 at 9:00am (English) and at 10:00am (Spanish). TEACHING AND EXPOSITION OF SACRED RELICS OF THE SAINTS Fr. Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will bring with him over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese the Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will also be present a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Where? At Saints Simon & Jude Cathedral When? EXPOSICION DE LAS RELIQUIAS DE LOS SANTOS El padre Carlos Martins de la Compañia de la Cruz ofrecerá una exposición de más de 150 reliquias, algunas de 2000 años de antiguedad. Entre ellas se encuentras reliquias de Santa Maria Goretti, Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, San Francisco de Asís, San Antonio de Padua, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Santa Faustina Kowalska, una retazo del velo de la Virgen, y un pedazo de la Cruz de Cristo. Donde? En la Catedral Santos Simon y Judas Cuándo? El martes 16 de Abril a las 7.30 pm WHAT ARE RELICS? Relics are physical objects that have a direct association with the saints or with Our Lord. They are usually broken down into three classes. First class relics are the body or fragments of the body of a saint, such as pieces of bone or flesh. Second class relics are something that a saint personally owned, such as a shirt or book (or fragments of those items). Third class relics are those items that a saint touched or that have been touched to a first or second class relic of a saint. Scripture teaches that God acts through relics, especially in terms of healing (2 Kings 13:20-21, Matthew QUE SON LAS RELIQUIAS? Son objetos que tienen una relación directa con los santos, o con Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Generalmente se dividen en tres grados. Las reliquias de primera clase son los huesos de los santos, o su cuerpo. Las de segunda clase es un objeto personal del santo, como sus vestimentas u otros objetos que hayan usado. Las reliquias de tercera clase son objetos que han tocado una reliquia de primera o segunda clase. La Biblia nos enseña que Dios muchas veces obra por medio de estas reliquias, especialemente logrando la curacion de personas enfermas (2 Kings 13:20-21, Matthew 9:20-22,
