Construction of new homes provides jobs, and the purchase of existing homes leads to additional consumer spending as homeowners move in, repair, and renovate. Analysts use a baseline that they consider a "normal" market, and then measure improvement from there. In the dark days of the housing collapse five years ago new construction starts were less than one-third the desired level of 1.5 million a month. Just three years ago, mortgage delinquency and foreclosure rates were almost triple what is considered an acceptable rate of 5.25%. These are dark and dismal figures if you are a banker or construction worker. In the Gospel this weekend Jesus is speaking to his disciples at the Last Supper describing the relationship between himself and the Father and the Holy Spirit. Those who love Jesus will keep his word and he and the Father will come and make their dwelling with the disciple. This image of dwelling speaks to the abiding presence of God in the followers of Jesus. God is always with them. Owning a home was long considered a part of the American dream. If a family could purchase a place of their own, then they would consider themselves to have "made it." Home ownership is still a value many people cling to, but its luster has dimmed since the collapse of the housing market. We are six Sundays away from Easter now, and maybe the joy of that feast has also dimmed a bit in our hearts. Maybe we've slipped back into some of our usual patterns and lost some of the fervor of our baptismal commitment. Even the Christian life is occasionally subject to a certain buyer's remorse. Jesus tells us in the Gospel not to be troubled or afraid. He and the Father are with us in a dwelling that is forever. Es un tiempo de catequesis fuerte cuando podemos explorar cómo la Iglesia pensaba en sus inicios. Hoy, por ejemplo, la lectura del Libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles nos dispone a ver la acción misionera de la Iglesia hacia otras naciones. Los apóstoles tuvieron que enfrentar la pregunta de cómo los nuevos creyentes llegarían ser oficialmente seguidores de Cristo. La Iglesia llamó a un concilio que llamamos de Jerusalén. El Espíritu de Dios trabajó verdaderamente en las primeras comunidades cristianas, tanto como trabaja ahora en nosotros para ser miembros activos en la Iglesia. No cabe la menor duda que si nos dejamos guiar por el Espíritu Santo seremos siempre personas comprometidas en el servicio y el amor hacia con los demás, especialmente en términos de hacer justicia en nuestra sociedad. Cómo hacerlo? Jesús nos da la clave: sencillamente guardando su palabra en el corazón, primero, y luego poniéndola en práctica. De esta forma él pondrá su morada en nosotros, junto con el Padre del cielo. Así, les aseguro, todo será más fácil: vivir y convivir en familia, vecinos y comunidad, llegando a ser presente el amor de Cristo. Los miembros de las primeras comunidades cristianas nos brindan el ejemplo de cómo podemos seguir siendo Iglesia peregrina y misionera. Cristo nos da su paz; lo de más llega por añadidura. Es difícil, lo sé. Sin embargo, mediante el regalo de la paz y el amor de Dios no podemos hacer menos que tratar de ser mejores Liturgical Publications Inc

During May, each Tuesday at 7.00pm and Sundays after 5.00pm Mass, a Holy Rosary will be prayed in honor of our Mother in Heaven. Also, following and old tradition on Sunday 12 th we will have the celebration of the crowning of the Virgin after each Mass. The ceremony will be after Mass with the Crowning. Let us ask our Lady to protect our parishioners. MAYO: MES DE MARIA CORONACION DE LA VIRGEN El mes de mayo es el mes dedicado a la Virgen María. Durante el mes de mayo, todos los martes a las 7.00pm y los Domingos al finalizar la Misa de 6.00pm tendremos el rezo del Santo Rosario para honrar a nuestra Madre del C i e l o. También, según una hermosa tradición tendremos la coronación de la imagen de nuestra Señora. Será el domingo 12 de mayo al finalizar cada Santa Misa.
