Fisher Pray for the deceased members of our parish Joan Lynch Hortencia Del Castillo May they rest in peace Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday) Here and now Jesus comes to stand in our mist! The Good News of his Resurrection is the blessing of having his Person accompanying us, striving to sustain us in our suffering, comforting us in our trial and giving us the Spirit to bear witness to God. Jesus is with us because this is the place where He wants to be: in our mist! The disciples were terrified by the persecution in Jerusalem: the Master himself was dead. They did not receive the Holy Spirit yet; therefore, they were encircled by the fear of death. The same death that we may experience today in front of the burden of our responsibilities, uncertainties for the future of our children, sicknesses, lack of resources, financial challenges and even doubts related to our Faith. As Jesus opened the tomb from within on the Easter Vigil, from within our hearts He comes to stir up our lives, so that we may receive the Holy Spirit and accept fully the pledge of eternal life through his words: Peace be with you. The kind of peace that the Lord wants to give us is not a worldly one. On the contrary, it is a steadfast, lasting and life-giving trust that which becomes both joy and guidance for our life. There is an eternal blessing for those who believe the words of this Gospel passage: blessed are those who have not seen and believe. Jesus, through these very words, is handing over eternal life to us who are listening today. If I know that I have eternal life, no bad news will ever take away peace from my heart: if this peace remains in me, then the Risen Lord lives in me. Consequently, let us do not be afraid of our cross in this life. It only shows the way to Christ, in the same way in which Christ shows the way to salvation displaying his nail marks to the unbelieving St. Thomas.

4 Page 4 Second Sunday of Easter April 3, 2016 Domingo de la Divina Misericordia La Buena Nueva de la Resurrección tiene el poder de salvar precisamente porque` Jesús está con nosotros: ya no está en el sepulcro! Él vive en su Iglesia. No solamente Él ha resucitado de entre los muertos, pero también quiere estar con nosotros, para que, si morimos por el pecado, podemos tener vida eterna. El entró en la condena de la muerte en lugar de nosotros. Los discípulos estaban encerrados en sus casas lleno de miedo a la muerte, por la persecución que había en Jerusalén: los jefes del pueblo habían matado el mismo Maestro. Muchas veces también nosotros estamos encerrados por el miedo y nos sentimos como encarcelado, incapaces de comunicar y, sobretodo, de amar. Las cargas de las responsabilidades, las preocupaciones por el futuro de nuestras familias, las dificultades económicas y también dudas de Fe nos hacen experimentar un sepulcro existencial. Pero, así como Jesús abrió su sepulcro de adentro, en la Vigilia Pascual, también Él viene a mover y alimentar nuestras vidas, de manera que podemos recibir el Espíritu Santo y aceptar la vida eterna en sus Palabras: La Paz sea con vosotros. Esta no es una paz momentánea y perecedera. La paz que el Señor quiere dar es firme, eterna y es como si fuera una fuente de vida. Es una paz que hace claridad en nuestra vida, que da guía y sentido a los acontecimientos de nuestra vida. También este Evangelio lleva una bendición eterna, por los que lo escuchan y creen en las Palabras del Señor: dichosos los que no han visto y sin embargo creen. Por medio de estas Palabras, Jesús nos entrega a la vida eterna. Hoy, si creo que tengo vida eterna, ninguna mala nueva me quitará la paz de mi corazón: y si yo acepto esta paz, que pasa por la Cruz, esta paz se quedará conmigo. La Cruz muestra el camino a Cristo, así como Cristo muestra el camino de salvación revelando sus llagas al incrédulo Santo Tomas.
