7 Hace Frío, Hace Calor The expressions for describing ambient temperature are hace frío for cold and hace calor for warm. The words frío and calor are nouns in this situation; this means that the adjective mucho can be used with them. Hoy hace mucho frío. Mañana va a hacer calor. Other expressions that follow this pattern include: Hace sol. Hace viento. Hace fresco. Hace buen tiempo. Hace mal tiempo. To ask what the weather is like: Qué tiempo hace?
