Document A Los Picos de Europa A Al norte de la Cordillera Cantábrica se encuentra uno de los conjuntos montañosos más espectaculares y bellos de la Península Ibérica: los Picos de Europa. Están en el territorio de las Comunidades Autónomas de Cantabria, Asturias y Castilla y León. Son impresionantes, con alturas que varían entre casi el nivel del mar y los más de m. 1 B Los Picos de Europa están rodeados por densos bosques en sus laderas, y pequeños pueblos en sus valles; y varios ríos atraviesan sus montañas: el Deva, el Sella, el Cares y el Duje. 5 C La fauna es muy variada: hay águilas reales, osos, lobos, jabalíes, gavilanes y muchos otros animales. D Creado en 1918 con el nombre de Parque Nacional de la Montaña de Covadonga, el Parque Nacional de los Picos de Europa, como se le conoce desde 1995, ha sido declarado por la UNESCO Reserva de la Biósfera. 10 E Su clima se caracteriza por la humedad y las constantes precipitaciones: está muy cerca del mar. La nieve es muy común durante el invierno. F En el parque existen numerosos miradores. Una buena opción es utilizar el teleférico de CONTINUED

El teleférico sube hasta una altura de más de metros sobre el nivel del mar. 15 G También es una opción interesante tomar el funicular que va desde Poncebos hasta Bulnes. Gracias al funicular, esta famosa aldea asturiana ya no sufre de aislamiento en invierno. H El Parque Nacional Picos de Europa ofrece múltiples itinerarios para todos los gustos y capacidades (turismo activo, senderismo, rutas 4x4, ). Destacan la subida a los Lagos de Covadonga y la Ruta del Cares. 20 I El Parque Nacional cuenta con treinta rutas señalizadas de pequeño recorrido, y dos de gran recorrido, entre las que hay caminos históricos como la Senda del Arcediano, la Ruta del Cares o los accesos peatonales a pueblos como Bulnes o Tresviso. J El Aeropuerto de Ranón se encuentra a 110 km de la comarca de los Picos de Europa. Iberia, Spanair y Aireuropa tienen vuelos que enlazan con diferentes capitales de provincia llegar.htm TURN OVER

7 SPANISH SYLLABUS A LCSP6001 Page 6 Document B Santiago: el peor aire de América Latina A Santiago se ha convertido en la capital con peor calidad del aire en Latinoamérica, según un estudio de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud. 1 B Durante este mes se ha vuelto cada vez más frecuente que cinco millones de santiaguinos se desplacen bajo una gigantesca nube de smog que ha obligado a decretar medidas de alerta ambiental e incluso una jornada de pre emergencia. La pre emergencia establece la paralización de 600 empresas con procesos contaminantes, e impone la restricción en sus desplazamientos a vehículos de todo tipo. Paralelamente, la Intendencia Metropolitana convocó a algunos expertos para que propongan medidas para combatir la contaminación. 5 C Las malas condiciones de ventilación que presenta Santiago durante el otoño suelen agravar el problema. Hay veces en que es imposible divisar la Cordillera de los Andes. Entonces el aire que se respira en la calle se vuelve peligroso para la salud. 10 D El doctor Andrei Tchernitchin, presidente del Departamento del Medio Ambiente del Colegio Médico, declaró que los indicadores que utilizan las autoridades para medir la contaminación por partículas no son los más adecuados, y que los actuales son muy permisivos. También cree que, en vez de informar periódicamente sobre los valores promedio de las últimas 24 horas, las autoridades deberían entregar cada hora los datos sobre la contaminación. Agregó: algunos estudios indican que, cuando la calidad del aire es mala, la cifra de muertos en la capital 50 al día aproximadamente aumenta en un 10% ese porcentaje sí podría ser atribuible a la contaminación E Un sondeo realizado en las calles de Santiago reveló las soluciones que proponen los ciudadanos: Mario Figueroa, músico, piensa que hace falta un rediseño de la ciudad y una descentralización de los puntos comerciales. Miguel Viñas, burócrata, propone menos ciudad, menos vehículos. 25 TURN OVER
