2 As we enjoy this last Sunday before Christmas, we anticipate spending time with family. Often this is a source of joy. At other times it can be bitter sweet. It can even be more bitter than sweet. Long-time family conflicts and old wounds can resurface. Some family that we never hear from can show no interest in us when we see them. And then we can leave wondering why we bothered to visit at all. We should also remember those who have no family to visit, especially our beloved widows and widowers. Yet, such experiences lead us to focus more intensely on the true meaning of Christmas. The source, center, and summit of Christmas is Christ! And this Christ comes to visit us! He comes to visit you. The blessings of our Christmas visits come from us who have been blessed by the Savior visiting us. This brings a true sense of joy even if some of our Christmas experiences are not pleasurable. May the days of Christmas bless you with Christ our Savior and may you be the blessing of Christmas for others. Al disfrutar de este último domingo antes de Navidad, nos anticipamos a pasar tiempo con la familia. A menudo las visitas son fuente de alegría. En otras ocasiones pueden ser agridulce. Incluso puede ser más amargo que dulce. Conflictos familiares de hace mucho tiempo y viejas heridas, pueden resurgir. Algunos familiares de los que nunca escuchamos pueden mostrar ningún interés en nosotros cuando los vemos. Y entonces podemos quedarnos pensando para qué nos molestamos en visitar. Esto trae un cierto sentido de la alegría, incluso si algunas de nuestras experiencias de Navidad no son placenteras. (Misericordiae Vultus, 5). 3 FOURTH WEEK CUARTA SEMANA Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14) Sometimes the signs God gives are unmistakable. Sometimes the signs are not so obvious. What signs do we see when we look around us? Sometimes it is hard to see God's signs because the signs of our world are so ever present and large. How many times this month have you seen this sign: "ONLY 20 (or 18, or 10, or 6 or ) MORE SHOPPING DAYS 'TIL CHRISTMAS." Do we ever stop to think, "How many praying days left until Christmas?" Lord, our God, we praise You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, for He is Emmanuel, the Hope of all people. He is the Wisdom that teaches and guides us. He is the Savior of us all. O Lord, let your blessing come upon us as we light all candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ's promise of salvation. May He come quickly and not delay. We ask this in His holy name. Amen. Por tanto, el Señor mismo os dará una señal: la virgen estará encinta y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel. Señor, Dios nuestro, nosotros Te alabamos por Tu Hijo, Jesucristo, porque Él es Emmanuel, la Esperanza de todas las personas. Él es la Sabiduría que nos enseña y nos guía. Él es el Salvador de todos nosotros. Oh Señor, deja que tu bendición venga sobre nosotros como encendemos todas las velas de esta corona. Que la corona y su luz sea una señal de la promesa de la salvación de Cristo. Que Él vendrá rápidamente y no se demore. Te lo pedimos en Su santo nombre. Amén.

We started our day with some community time playing basketball, soccer and card games while everyone arrived. We had small groups and then heard a talk about Advent followed by some prayer time, worship and sharing with a partner about our Advent sacrifice or prayer commitment. Throughout the day there were a few more talks and prayer sessions, small group time and a service hour where we put together Christmas bags for the homeless in our city. Each bag contained some essentials that would be useful to someone in need and a handwritten Christmas note of spiritual encouragement and love from one of the teens. After a big game of dodge ball and some delicious Chick-fil-A, we ended our day with 5:30 Mass at Resurrection. We are so blessed to have such an amazing group of teens frequenting our youth events. I am inspired daily by their faith and by their drive to become better than they were yesterday. Pray for us as we close out an incredible semester and plan for another great semester ahead!
